Thank you to the forestry professionals, planters, and volunteers who made today a success! After a year's delay, Plant a Tree was back with over 200 volunteers assisting to plant nearly 7,000 native seedlings. Public participation is expected to resume next year. If you've planted with us, post a pic and tag yourself! #plantatree2021 #reforestation #Honor93

We are thankful to FirstNational Bank for donating $11,000 for the second year in a row as part of PA’s Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. Friends’ President Donna Gibson (pictured left), Vice President Retail Market Manager with First National Bank of Pittsburgh, has been an advocate for the Friends EITC program. The Friends work to educate today’s generation of Americans born after 2001 about 9/11 and how Flight 93 ended the worst terrorist attack in US histor...y. When the pandemic forced schools to close and begin teaching remotely, the Friends began providing education resources, and developed student activities and classroom discussion questions to help teachers and students connect the Flight 93 story of resilience with today’s national crisis. Teacher surveys revealed that over half of state school districts do not mandate the teaching of 9/11 curriculum. If your business participates in EITC, we ask you to support us. We are the official nonprofit partner of Flight 93 National Memorial dedicated to ensuring that the story of Flight 93 continues nearly 20 years since 9/11. Did you know that less than half of PA school districts include 9/11 in their curriculum? Since the spring, the Friends have provided direct education resources and activities to over 8,000 educators so they may teach the story of 9/11 and Flight 93 to their students, either in-classroom or remotely. Our education outreac...h programs are aimed to ensure the story of the 40 passenger and crew members remains relevant, accessible, and inspirational to present and future generations. Today, December 1, marks #GivingTuesday. We ask for your help to continue our mission of educating today’s youth. Did you know nearly one-fifth of all young people today were born after September 11, 2001? Together, we can use 21st century technology to reach children across the nation and connect them with the story of Flight 93, and the themes of action, honor, teamwork and democracy. We can’t do it alone. If you can, please lend your support with a gift today: Donate at 911Flight93.org Host a Facebook Fundraiser for the Friends Share this post and spread the word to all your friends and followers Thank you for your continued support of the Friends mission to educate the next generation and spread awareness on the story of Flight 93, and its beautiful and moving memorial. #GivingTuesday #40Heroes #thankyou
