The Beaver Valley Flying Club celebrating their 50th year, is proud to host an Open House, Spot Landing Competition & Cookout! The event will be held on Sunday August 27th, from 12:00 noon until 5:00 pm at the Beaver Valley Flying Club Hangars on the BVI airfield. Each participating pilot will perform 3 landings, which will be graded. Prizes will be awarded to 1st-3rd place, as well as last place! E-mail [email protected] to sign up. Three lines will be placed on the runway 100 feet apart, closest to the center line wins! Judges score is final. No Slipping!! No Hopping!! Flaps may be used, but once lowered, they may not be retracted to any lesser position. Power may be used, but once decreased may not be reapplied. Follow normal pattern procedures. Normal Landing & Touch-Go procedures. A CFI must accompany pre-solo student pilots. Follow all Tower instructions. Have Fun!! Be Safe!! Weather conditions on the day of the contest will determine Runway usage. Safety Objective: Make your operations safe, above all else. If you (or people with you) are on the field watching the event, remain well clear of the runway and taxiways and be aware of aircraft taxiing. Be observant for dangerous situations. Act immediately to correct or prevent a potential hazard from developing. Assist with loading and unloading the aircraft. Ensure that all passengers have their safety belts on. Lock all doors before flight. Do not engage the starter until someone outside the aircraft clears the propeller area. Taxi well clear of people on the ground. Watch your prop blast. Stay tuned to the appropriate frequencies. Do NOT be too proud to execute a go-around.
