| c u s t o m | Have you been in the shop recently and noticed this big beauty? Not exaggerating it’s been in process at multiple stages since early January. I am extremely blessed with gracious customers, but testing their patience to this level frustrates me as a business owner! I have made the difficult decision to postpone taking on new custom work for a while. I am so happy with how my business has grown and with the excitement of painting for the shop, which is kee...ping me very busy. If I have your piece, I am finishing it! | done | Last year at this time our basement was completely tore apart. When we bought our house we were told the basement never floods! only to have it flood every time it rained hard. The first 4 years we fixed gutters and regraded our back yard. In March of last year when we realized quarantine might be longer than a 2 week flatten the curve, we ripped it out, discovered mold, and many wall cracks in our walls where water was coming in. There is nothing like a refinished space except when you know it’s now a lasting space. Thankful for the boys and Scotty and their hard work in repairing walls and rebuilding this beautiful space. | e a r t h | Happy Earth Day! This past year by spending so much time at home has been a real eye opener for me when it comes to our consumption and trash. First of all our family eats a ton. Our kids are growing which is wonderful. And we eat together more than ever because... homeschool. I’ve come to realize before this year our food waste was so high because we were always on the go. Now people eat all day long. We don’t even have a leftover night anymore.... Second, the sheer amount of papers I used to have piled around has dwindled to nothing. Not having the traditional school setting and back packs full of paper has been like blessed relief to my dining table, counters and any other surface where things used to collect. We’ve started taking our paper and cardboard to a local farmer who collects it. I’ve also committed to using less baggies and more containers for food storage. Also not packing lunches has drastically changed how often I purchase baggies and storage containers. These are small changes that I never took the time to implement because it was just one more thing. Starting small sometimes seems like a hassle and I used to question Is this really worth it? but I’m amazed at how it has snowballed and involved our entire family. This year Colin took Earth Science and as part of a school project built a compost bin for our family. I’m so so excited about this project. It’s been fun to research with him and challenge ourselves to get the breakdown formula figured out!
