Gilbert D. Martell Gilbert D. Martell, age 78 of RD Morrisdale, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield. Born March 22, 1942 in Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Maximino Martell and Olga Fortys. On August 21, 1982, he wed Mary (Evans) Martell who survives at home. Also surviving are his step children, Matthew Welker and wife Lois, Philipsburg; Melody English and husband Roy, Winslow, AZ; M...ark Welker and companion Sue Newman, Clearfield; Monica Sanderbeck and companion Mike Graham, Morrisdale; Melissa Lukens and husband Jason, Wallaceton; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; his siblings, Neidia Rodriguez, FL; Jenny Martell, N.Y.C.; Evelyn Fortiz, Loyda Vega, Ada Olma, all of Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Martell. Gilbert was a member of the Morris Twp. Volunteer Fire Company, Morrisdale. He enjoyed working Morris Twp. Bingo and the people who worked it with him. He always was willing to help the fire company out with various fund raisers. He was a member of the Cooper Twp. Sportsman Club where he loved playing poker with the guys. He enjoyed going to Salamanca with Mary. They both enjoyed dancing and playing cards together until wee hours of the morning. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 12-1:00 PM at Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale. There will be a private funeral service following in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Matt Scott. Masks and social distancing will be required. Lawrence Wade Griest Lawrence Wade Griest, 74, of Grassflat, PA passed away at home on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 of a heart attack and long-term effects of type II diabetes. Born August 15, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of Stewart L. Griest, Sr. and Helen Gunzenhauser Griest. His family belonged to the Lutheran faith. He married Linda L. Roman on Feb. 24, 1982. He is survived by his wife Linda; daughter Rachel Lynn Flannagan and husband Joseph of Burkesville, KY w...ith children Michael Joel, Ian Porter, and Calista Dorothy; daughter Moriah Kathleen Rosenquist and husband Stephan of Camden, Ohio with children John Daniel and Wade Alan; sister Jane Griest Rice of Altoona, PA; brother Stewart L. Griest, Jr. and wife Patricia of Zelienople; two sister-in-law’s, Cyndi Roman Thomas and Sonya Roman; three nieces, two nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Penny Rome; two brother-in-law’s, Raymond Rice and Bruce Berg; and multiple companion cats, notably Lenny. Larry graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1964. While in high school he sang in school programs and small independent groups; was an assistant librarian and was on the track and field team. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 then with the help of the GI Bill he graduated from Penn State in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry. In 1979 he received his Masters of Business Administration degree from Penn State then went to work at PermaGrain's Quehanna plant. After PermaGrain closed, he took his daughters to school activities, gardened, shot sporting clays, and worked at the Howard Tree Nursery for the PA Game Commission from which he retired. He was a member of the Penn State Smeal College Hammond Society. He had a life-long love of nature (especially squirrels). He valued education, facts, numbers and he enjoyed music. Memorial contributions are suggested to places, or groups, that care for nature. A memorial gathering will be held on a future date when weather is pleasant. Carl L. Gaines Carl L. Gaines, age 77 a guest of Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the home. Born March 6, 1943, he was the son of the late Ralph and Amanda (Teats) Gaines. Surviving are his children, William R. Gaines, Winburne; Debra L. Kyler and husband Greg, Morrisdale; Ann Marie Lopez and husband Tony, Santa Paula, CA; Carl F. Gaines, Munson; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his ...sibling, Betty L McGovern, Winburne. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Letha Dawes and his brothers, John, Bernard, and James. There will be no public visitation. Helen A. Williamson Helen A. Williamson, age 98 of Philipsburg and formerly of Morrisdale, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Windy Hill Village of Presbyterian Homes. Born May 6, 1922 in Morrisdale, she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Rose (Gillotte) Serianni. On April 17, 1946 she wed Lewis J. Williamson who preceded her in death on May 26, 2002. Surviving are her children, Judy Williamson, Morrisdale; Fredie Hubler, Morrisdale; John Williamson... and wife Debbie, Morrisdale; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. She was the last of her generation. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer; brother, John Serianni and a sister-in-law, Alfredia Serianni. Mrs. Williamson was a resident of Windy Hill Village for five years. The family would like to thank the staff for taking such good care of our Mom. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Philipsburg. She was a graduate of Morrisdale High School. The public will be received on Saturday. Margaret (Peggy) Ann (Hubler) Smith Margaret (Peggy) Ann (Hubler) Smith, age 74 of Morrisdale, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at her residence. Born November 10, 1946 in Winburne, she was the daughter of the late Lyle E., Sr. and Kathryn V. (Goss) Hubler. She married Robert (Bob) Smith who survives at home. Also surviving are her siblings, JoAnne F. (Hubler) MacTavish; Jackson W. Hubler, Sr.; Kimberlie L. (Hubler) Hartle and Lyle E. (Butch) Hubler, Jr.... Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a great-niece, Britani Leigh Owens; and a great-nephew, Andrew Phillips. Margaret was of the Christian Faith. She was a 1964 graduate of West Branch Area High School, Allport and had worked for Gerald Roush & Associates, Philipsburg, for twenty-five years as an accountant. Christy Ann Thomas Christy Ann (Lannen) Thomas, 51, of Morrisdale, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 13, 2020. Born July 11, 1969 in Butler, she was the daughter of Robert Lee, Sr. and Carol Jean (Teats) Lannen.... She is survived by her mother, Carol, of Karthaus; daughter, Taylor Ann Thomas and her husband Brian Daniel Miller of Cumberland, MD; daughter, Hannah Rae Thomas and her fiancé Trey Anthony Kanouff of Mill Hall; brother, Robert Lee Lannen, Jr., of Morrisdale; and countless dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father. Our mother graduated from West Branch Area High School in 1987. After graduation, she worked five years as a legal secretary for David Ammerman, Esq. Along with raising her daughters, she found a passion for helping first-time, juvenile offenders as the Clearfield County Teen Court Coordinator, a position she held for over 15 years. She was known for her sense of humor and her beautiful smile. She loved hiking with her dog and spending time with friends and family. There will be no public visitation. Josephine M. Lake Josephine M. Lake, age 85 of Harrisburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at U.P.M.C. Pinnacle Community Osteopathic, Harrisburg. Born July 3, 1935 in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Amelia Weitoish. Surviving are her children, Michael Lake and his wife Pam, Winburne; Anne (JoeAnn) Miller and husband Ronald, Harrisburg; her grandchildren, Ryan, Brittany, Jeremy, Melissa; her great-grandchildren, Joseph, Sdynie..., Bently and Bowden. She was the last of her generation. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters. Josephine loved her family and was loved by all. She was a member of Red Hat Ladies Club, Harrisburg and was part of the Peanut Butter and Jelly Brigade, Harrisburg. There will be no public visitation. Carol Ann Repasky Carol Ann Repasky, age 70 of Moshannon, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 13, 2020 at her residence. Born December 17, 1949 in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Paul A., Sr. and Catherine A. (Bunyak) Fenush. On October 30, 1971 at St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Grassflat she wed Gary L. Repasky, Sr. who survives at home. Also surviving are her children; Nicole Niemi and husband Tedd; Jodie Franks and husband Jon; Gary Rep...asky, Jr. and wife LeAnn; her grandchildren, Alexis and Jordan Franks; Morgan, Zachary and Nathan Taylor; Raelee and Lauren Repasky; her siblings, Paul Fenush and wife Linda; Eugene Fenush and wife Sandy; Maxine Orwick, Joseph Fenush, Anthony Fenush and wife Jody; James Fenush and Dennis Fenush. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings; Thomas Fenush, Ronald Fenush and Cathy Fenush. Carol was a member of Queen of Archangels Parish, Clarence, where she was very strong in her faith. She was a graduate of West Branch High School and went to beauty school. She was a self-employed beautician and was a secretary for Mt. Top Taxidermy, Moshannon. She was a loving wife, mother, Nana and so giving to others. She enjoyed: gardening, flowers, going to the beach and on camping trips with her family and friends, playing rummy and other games, taking pride in taste testing the homemade wine that she made with her husband and considered herself as quality control. Family and friends will be received on Monday, November 16, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8:00 PM at Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Queen of Archangels Chapel, Snow Shoe, with Father Michael Wolfe as celebrant. Leroy J. Weitoish Leroy J. Weitoish, age 65 of Morrisdale, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born in September 29, 1955 Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Frank, Sr. and Mary (Emigh) Weitoish. On December 31, 1997 at Forest United Methodist Church, he wed Susie E. (Croyle) Weitoish who survives at home. Also surviving are his daughter, Tiffany F. Weitoish, Cedar Park, TX; his step-sons, Clinton S. Quick a...nd wife Anna, Winburne; Heath G. Quick, Philadelphia; six grandchildren; his siblings, Frank Weitoish, Jr. and wife Kristina, Reinholds, PA; James D. Weitoish, Sr. and fiance Wendy Lanich, Sandy Ridge; Lisa Guenot and husband Greg, West Decatur; John Weitoish and wife Antoniette, Elizabeth, NJ; Jennifer Malloy and husband Nels, Winburne, Barbara Kephart and husband Barry, Sandy Ridge and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David L. Weitoish. Leroy was affiliated with the Methodist Faith. He was a 1975 graduate of West Branch Area High School, Allport and had worked for River Hill Coal Company, Inc. for over 40 years also worked for Penn Dot as a snow plower for six years. He was a veteran of US Army, Army Reserves. He was a member of the Grassflat L.O.O.M., #941, Grassflat and the Cooper Twp. Sportsman Club, Winburne. He enjoyed his back hoe and hauling coal. Susan Jane Betts Susan Jane Betts, age 53 of Hawk Run, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at her residence. Born November 2, 1966 in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of William Bill L. and Helen (Carr) Turner. On May 31, 1997, in Morrisdale, she wed Daniel F. Betts who survives at home. Also surviving are her children, Rachelle Turner, Clovis, NM; Mary Betts, Ruthie Betts, Sarah Betts, Hannah Betts, all of Hawk Run; her grandson, Miguel Lovett-Turner; ...her in-laws, Robert Scanish and wife Phyllis, Penfield; her siblings, Alan Turner and wife Michelle, Morrisdale RD; Sharon Turner, Kutztown; aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Susan was affiliated with the Fairview United Methodist Church, RR Morrisdale. She was a 1984 graduate of West Branch Area High School, Allport and attended Lock Haven University to receive her Bachelor’s Degree and Certificate of Special Education and went on to earn her Masters Degree. She then taught at West Branch Elementary School for 23 years and was active with many sports teams. Dorothy J. Tarachko Dorothy J. Tarachko, age 88 of Frenchville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at her residence. Born January 31, 1932 in Morrisdale, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Margaret (Coval) Bolents and was raised by the late Peter and Anna Bolents. On November 29, 1958, at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Clearfield she wed Paul J. Tarachko, Sr. who preceded her in death on February 20, 2014. Surviving are her children..., Mary English and her companion Jay Leigey, West Decatur; Paul J. Tarachko, Jr, Frenchville; Stanley Tarachko and wife Trudy, Clearfield; her granddaughter, Jennifer Merritts and companion Mike Leskovansky; her grandson, Joshua English; her great-granddaughter, Hayley Leskovansky. She was the last of her generation. Along with her parents and the parents that raised her and her husband, she was preceded by her son-in-law, Tim English; her sisters, Margaret Frankhouse and Helen Sabolsice; her brother, John Bolents. Theresa Carlson Theresa Carlson, devoted mother and doting grandmother, returned to God’s eternal embrace on October 20. 2020, one week before her 94th birthday. Born in 1926 in Moshannon, Theresa was the daughter of Albert and Alice Harvey of Drifting and sister to Alfred Harvey of Kylertown, Bill Harvey of Finleyville, Richard Harvey of Chesterhill, Marie Sturniolo of Clearfield and John Butch Harvey of Drifting. Theresa married Don Carlson of Snowshoe in 1946 and lived i...n Drifting and Kylertown, spending her final years in Clearfield. Raised as a farmer’s daughter, she stepped up during WWII while her brothers were serving, to help keep her family farm operating and was very proud of her tractor-driving skills. As an outdoors person, Theresa enjoyed long walks in the woods and was always a very popular playmate with the family dogs who she loved to spoil. She loved watching the birds from her front porch with a friendly greeting to the neighbors passing by in the neighborhood. Theresa enjoyed attending weekly Mass and visiting with friends and family. Theresa is survived by her two sons, Don Carlson of Libertytown, Maryland and Mark Carlson of Clearfield, PA as well as her Grandchildren, Don Jr. and Loree and Great-Grandchildren, Tristan and Victoria. Arlene Evelyn Walk Carns Arlene Evelyn Walk Carns, 81, of Culpeper, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. Family and friends will be received from 1:30 p.m. 3 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Strange & Weaver Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Earl R. Shawley officiating. Burial will be immediately following at Grandview Cemetery in Morrisdale. Mrs. Carns was born on the family farm in Morrisdale on Sept 12, 1939. She graduated from Morrisdale High School and retired fr...om the Natural Resources Conservation Service, an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She is survived by her one child, Jeffrey A. Carns; his wife, Kelly, and three grandchildren, Noah (Megan) Shealy of the U.S. Marine Corp at Camp Lejeune, NC and Luke and Jenny Carns of Culpeper, VA; one great grandchild, Audrey Shealy; and her sisters, Carole (Roger) Graffius of Morrisdale and Debbie Havens of Pleasant Gap. She was preceded in death in 2015 by her husband, Richard Dick Carns, and her parents, Herschel and Almeda Quick Walk of Morrisdale. Michael A. Jozefik Michael A Jozefik, 89, of Kylertown passed away on Tuesday, October 20th at Hillsdale Aristacare, Hillsdale, PA. He was born August 9th, 1931 in #10 in Clarence, a son of the late John and Helen (Ludwig) Jozefik. He was a hard-working, blue-collar man, who dedicated his life to providing for his family that he loved, standing up for his co-workers, helping his neighbors and even strangers. He worked 44 years at J.H. France Refractories in Snow Shoe, Pennsy...lvania, and a proud member of the union there. He served in the union local in various roles including President, Chief Steward and Steward. He worked 35 years without taking a sick day, even though his position was very demanding and physical. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He loved hunting and fishing with his family, especially his brother David, as well as being an avid outdoorsman. He was a skilled carpenter, even though his education ended after the 5th grade. He built many homes in Central PA region including 3 homes for himself and his family. He attended the Philipsburg Church of the Nazarene for many decades, and more recently attended Forest Baptist Church, Forest, PA. Mike’s family would like to express their immense gratitude to the many people who cared for him, especially the dedicated nursing home staff. He is survived by his wife, Esther of Kylertown; eight children, Garry M. Jozefik and wife Tammy of Woodland; Steve E. Jozefik and wife Celeste of Brisbin; Brian J. Fetter and wife Cindy of Littlestown; Mark A. Bezilla of Morrisdale; Timothy P. Bezilla of Cranberry Twp.; Lori A. Jozefik and husband Troy of Philipsburg; Drew A. Jozefik and partner Doreen of Columbus, Ohio; Daniel S. Jozefik of Salem, Massachusetts, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his 14 brothers and sisters. Michael and Esther were married on April 5th, 1968 in Frenchville. Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday, October 24th from 9-10:30 am at the Forest Baptist Church located in Winburne, PA (814) 345-6949. The funeral will follow at the church at 11am, with interment following at the Messiah Baptist Church cemetery at 2172 Maple Street, Morrisdale. Military honors will be accorded at the graveside the funeral home by the Osceola Mills Community Honor Guard. Joe Milo Brannon Joe Milo Brannon, age 73, of Karthaus PA was called home on Saturday October 10th, at the age of 73. Joe was born in Circleville, Ohio on July 1, 1947. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 and retired following 22 years of service. His military career was a source of great pride for him and his family. Joe called many places home throughout his life, however in 2006 he settled in Karthaus, PA on the Kolivoski Family homestead, with his wife Linda... Kolivoski Brannon. He was an avid outdoorsman, fishing was his favorite, but he rarely passed up a chance to hunt. Joe was predeceased by his loving wife, Linda in 2007 and an infant daughter in 1972, He is survived by his children; Jeffrey (Tina) Brannon, Pine City, NY; Joseph (Heather) Brannon, Karthaus PA; and Jolene Brannon, Pine City, NY. Grandchildren; Nathan, Lindsey and Michaela, great granddaughter Annabel and his fiancé Phyllis McCloskey. He was loved by many and will be sorely missed. Visitation will be held at Strange and Weaver Funeral Home on Friday October 16th, from 5-8pm and again on Saturday from 10-11 at Oak Hill Church, Karthaus. Born January 5, 1953 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late William, Sr. and Dolores June (Eboch) Bowman. On March 9, 1974 at Morrisdale United Methodist Church, he wed Nancy Ann (Verbeck) Bowman who survives at home. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, William Henry Bowman, II. John was affiliated with the First Church of Christ, Philipsburg. He was a 1971 graduate of Philipsburg Osceola High School and was a veteran serving for 21 years and had served during Desert Storm for the US Army. He had worked for Piezo Kinetics, Inc., Bellefonte. He loved hunting, fishing and taking care of his chickens. Charles Shorty John Burnett Charles Shorty John Burnett, age 20 of Morrisdale, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at his residence. Born October 10, 1999 in Clearfield, he was the son of Harold R. Burnett, Jr. and wife Dawn M. McGarry, Morrisdale. Also surviving is his half-brother, Harold Burnett, III and wife Kaley, Morrisdale; his fiancé, Torrie Snedden, Morrisdale and numerous aunts and uncles. Evelyn Rose Pedmo Evelyn Rose Pedmo, age 87 of Kylertown, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 6, 2020 at Windy Hill Village of Presbyterian Homes, Philipsburg. Born October 9, 1932 in Grassflat, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Rosalie (Kolesar) Hudish. On February 14, 1961 she married Joseph A. Pedmo who survives at home. Also surviving are her sons, Randy Pedmo, Kylertown; Rodney Pedmo, Allport; her grandchildren, Danielle Parks and husband Kody; Ry...en Silvestri and husband Ian, Brandi Pedmo and companion Rick McGivney and Taylor Pedmo; her great-grandchildren, Kady, Kimber, Kylee Parks, Emma and Carson Silvestri, Allaina McGivney; her siblings, Gary Hudish and wife JoAnn, Craig, OH; Dorothy Mae Wheater and husband Charles, Sagamore Hills, OH; Lorraine E. Caron and husband Ronald, Lexington, KY and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded by a grandson, Benjamin Pedmo; daughter-in-law, Leona Pedmo; an infant brother, Elwood Hudish; brothers, Ronald Hudish, John Jerry Hudish and sister, Sharon Kirkpatrick. Evelyn was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lanse. She grew up on the family farm near Grassflat and spent her early years working on the farm. She was a graduate of the former Cooper Twp. High School, Lanse. She had worked at the former General Cigar Factory, Philipsburg for a few years then she attended the Pittsburgh Beauty School where she received her beautician license which led to her starting her own shop in her home for nearly 30 years. She enjoyed traveling and saw a number of foreign countries of which Ireland and Alaska she enjoyed the most. She was a generous person and loving mother that loved her Lord. Her values were old school and lived at a time when a friend was a friend and neighbors loved one another. She will be missed by many. Born March 4, 1942 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Edward A. and Ruth Fay (Bammat) Morlock. On September 25, 1969 he wed Nancy (Bigger) Morlock who survives at home. Also surviving are his children, Ronald Lengen and wife Terri, NJ; Rhonda Dunkle and husband Tom, Altoona; Lorraine McTavish and husban...d Rocky, Altoona, Chris Lengen and companion Amy, Winburne; Bill Bump Morlock, Jr., Lanse; thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was the last of his generation. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a grand-daughter, Shawna Carlson. William was affiliated with the Methodist faith. He was a 1960 graduate of Cooper Twp. High School. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a lifetime member of the Winburne Fire Company. He was an EMT for Cooper Twp., and a former Cooper Twp. Supervisor. He had worked for Woolridge Coal Company, Clearfield as a heavy equipment operator for over thirty- five years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garage and spending time with his family. Verda Lou Beddie Tarbay Verda Lou Beddie Tarbay, age 83 of Philipsburg RD, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at her residence. Born August 1, 1937, in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles Bunt and Violet Marie (Quick) Hilderbrand. She married her beloved husband, Leonard Tarbay on April 12, 1958 in Winburne who preceded her in death in 1996. She is survived by her three daughters Rene Tarbay, Michelle Tarbay and Annette Tarbay, ...all at home in Philipsburg; her brother, Jack Hilderbrand, Philipsburg; her sister, Saloma and her husband Ron Cartwright, Pardee. Also surviving is her daughter Annette’s fiancé, Dennis Eisenhauer, Winburne; her brother-in-law, Bill Walker, Hawk Run; and her sister-in-law, Millie (Tarbay) Harris, Troy. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings and their spouses, Jerry Hilderbrand; George (Esther) Hilderbrand; Mary (Joe) Chutko; Dorothy (Bill) Slother all formerly of Philipsburg; Alice Walker, formerly of Hawk Run and sister-in-law, Iva Lou Hilderbrand, formerly of Philipsburg. Verda was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Philipsburg. Including her husband and daughter’s, she too enjoyed camping and bluegrass country music. She belonged to the Forest County Music Association and played autoharp and sang in their family band. She enjoyed playing at festivals, churches and charity events, etc. and had many special friends at the Shiloh United Methodist Church, Shiloh where she and her family band played at many of their events. She was a good hearted woman, kind and caring, that was loved and called mom and gram by many, and a loving and wonderful wife and mother. A woman of great faith, she was a blessing to many and will be missed and remembered always. See you in the morning.
