Hello friends! Cold storage is one of my big bottlenecks at the farm. What I actually need is a full-size walk-in cooler, but I don’t have space for one in the tiny backyard where I live, and I don’t have electricity at the farm plots to hook one up there. Oh, the trials and tribulations of urban farming. But! I have the opportunity right now to buy this massive 3-door cooler from a friend. This is quite large (something like 72 cubic feet) and would be a huge benefit to the ...CSA, the stuff I bring to farmers’ market, and to the meal kits. To buy a new 3-door cooler would be very expensive; even buying it used from a friend is not a cheap date (but a much better deal.) I would also need to hire a mover for it because it is so large and heavy! I’m posting this to ask that you consider helping me make this purchase by buying a piece of farm merch. Today is the last day that merch sales are open. Tote bags are $18, gray women’s and men’s t-shirts are $20, hunter green aprons are $20, and super soft crewneck sweatshirts are $30. To order, all you have to do is send me a message or email with your order (including sizes for any t-shirts or sweatshirts), and then PayPal or Venmo your payment. Just one week remains to get your main season plant pre-orders in! This includes orders for our classic Victory Garden Starter Packs and (new this year!) Build-Your-Own Garden Packs. The Victory Garden packs are perfect for new growers, and include a cherry tomato, beefsteak tomato, bell pepper, cucumber, zucchini, basil, and lettuces for $20. ALL main season plant orders - whether for garden packs or individual plants - will close at the end of the day next Friday, May 7th. The following week I will be emailing folks an online link to schedule their plant pick-ups in mid to late May. Plant pick-ups must be scheduled ahead of time! Folks who don’t submit pre-orders will have a select number of opportunities to browse and purchase our plant starts in person - beginning at our Mother’s Day Market on May 9th at West Erie Plaza! I'm so excited to be partnering with Wild Field Urban Farm and Herb & Honey Bakery to put on the first farmers' market of the 2021 season - graciously hosted by the fine folks at the West Erie Plaza! Other vendors to be announced. Come on down for all-naturally-grown plant starts, scratch-made baked goods, limited first-of-the-season flowers and veggies, potted succulents, and more. It’s been a busy few days around here, delivering dozens and dozens and dozens (!) of our first-ever winter dinner meal kits! Folks in Union City, Cambridge Springs, Edinboro, Girard, Fairview, all over Millcreek and Erie, Harborcreek AND North East were all super quick to sign up for all-local, truly seasonal eating this winter and I can confidently speak for all of the farms involved when I say that we can’t thank you enough for the support. (I also can’t thank you enough f...or your patience while I made all of the very meandering deliveries. ) This first meal kit features pastured whole chicken from Copley's Fresh Start Farm in Waterford, with veggies from Fat Hawk Farm in Guys Mills, Finnell Farms in Harborcreek, and French Street Farms right here in Erie. The kits also come with pears to fix for dessert, from Ferko Farms in North East! Thanks again to everyone for supporting your local farms.
