It is with deep regret that the Loyalhanna Sojourn, re-scheduled for 6-27-2020, is being canceled for this year. Due to the COVID-19 mitigation requirements f...or busing, the lack of safety boaters, number of strainers (downed trees) that have entered the waterway over the last month and the exceptionally low water level in the Loyalhanna Creek, the difficult, but prudent decision to cancel has been made. As an example, this same traditional 3 hour float from Cardinal Park in Latrobe to Grey Wing Park in New Alexandria is currently taking 8 hours from start to finish. Participants will receive a credit to their account for the 2021 Sojourn or another program offered through Latrobe-GLSD Parks & Recreation. If you would like a refund, please email Craig Shevchik, Director, at [email protected] directly. Refunds will be processed within 60 days. We thank you for your understanding as your safety and enjoyable experience is our first priority. We look forward to planning a successful sojourn and seeing you all again in 2021!
Your Weekly Tick Report for July 17 - 24! Enjoy the outdoors this weekend and be sure to check for ticks!
It is with a heavy heart that park staff have made the decision to not host Haunted Keystone this year. Last year, preparations for Haunted Keystone began as e...arly as May and the event, held in mid-October, saw over 1,000 visitors, a nearly full campground, and over 30 volunteers. While we're thrilled that the community has quickly turned this into a yearly tradition, we feel that it would be irresponsible to hold such a heavily attended event in light of the current COVID-19 pandemic. With that being said, we will continue to host educational programming in the park as long as we are able to. Programs will be small with ample room for social distancing. Keep following our page for information on upcoming programs. We thank you for your understanding in this matter. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you for a festive and spooky Haunted Keystone in 2021.

As Pennsylvania state parks reopen facilities, we still need to take steps to protect ourselves and others when outdoors #COVID19
If you’re headed to the campground here’s some tips to keep you and others safe this summer. Enjoy the starry nights!
Our state park beaches open tomorrow. Please remember to be safe and spread out from others if you are heading to a state park beach. Put about the distance of a beach towel between you and others not from your household on the beach. #RecreateResponsibly
Other updates: The playground will also be available on Saturday, June 6th. As with the beach, visitors are encouraged to maintain social distancing and to wea...r masks when not swimming, eating, or drinking. The Keystone Farmers Market and movies on the beach will not occur this year. The James Kell Visitor Center remains closed until further notice. We appreciate everyone's patience as we adjust to the changes being enacted this year.
Hi Everyone! With the exciting announcement that Westmoreland County is going into green phase this Friday, we wanted to take an opportunity to update everyone ...on how this will impact beach operations at Keystone State Park. Keystone Beach will officially open on Saturday, June 6th at 8AM. In order to allow for social distancing, we have been asked to reduce the parking lot capacity by 50%. We will be doing that by placing no parking signs in the lots so that sufficient space is available to all who park. Please be on the lookout for these signs and be sure to park in a designated spot. When the lot is full, the inbound entrance will be blocked until more space opens up. The showers and restrooms will be open to the public with staff maintaining a regular cleaning/disinfecting schedule. The beach house where visitors have, in the past, been able to borrow beach equipment and games will, unfortunately, be unavailable for the 2020 season. Additionally, the food concessionaire has made the difficult decision to not open this season. Water fountains will also not be turned on this season. Visitors are asked to take these things into consideration when planning your visit. Visitors are asked to maintain social distancing with other visitors and to wear masks when not swimming, eating, or drinking. We are constantly receiving new information and will pass that on as we receive it. Operations will run a little differently this year than they have in the past. We're as excited as our visitors to be able to open the beach and we ask for your patience and understanding as we work through these new changes.
If you would like to know more about what is open or opening in your state park follow the link and select you county. It will list the state park facilities and what is open.
The beach will be open June 6th. Please come and enjoy our park but be considerate and maintain social distancing.
