Dale Gallon's "Midnight Hour" portrays the South Central New Mexico Territory, Spring of 1880 Victorio Campaign A trooper of the 9th US Cavalry waits to be relieved of his guidon and horse before a midnight deployment. The Battle of Hembrillo Basin, New Mexico, April 58, 1880 was the largest battle of the Victorio Campaign in numbers engaged. More than 500 soldiers and Indian scouts attempted to encircle Apache Chief Victorio's camp. Not all the U.S. troops found their way to the battlefield and after skirmishing at long distance Chief Victorio withdrew successfully. The U.S. had two dead and three Apache bodies were reported found on the battlefield.

Dale Gallon’s GOULD’S BREAKTHROUGH AT PETERSBURG Early in the morning of April 2, 1865 Captain Charles Gould of the 5th Vermont Volunteer Infantry is shown valiantly leading the Union attack of the 6th Corps that results in the withdrawal of the Confederate Army at Petersburg. Gould received the Congressional Medal of Honor for this action on July 30, 1890.

Dale Gallon’s BLAZE AT THE BLISS FARM - Gettysburg, PA - July 3, 1863 The marching columns of two Union army corps were hurrying to the north and west of Gettysburg. Called to engage Confederates descending on the town, these soldiers passed the farmstead of William and Adaline Bliss. The Bliss Farm included a Pennsylvania bank barn with walls of mortared stone and brick. "Expensively and elaborately built...a citadel in itself." The farm's two story frame and log house of weatherboard siding stood 90 paces to the north".
