GTIP's Change Begins with You: a message from our Faculty and Supervisors: Today we’re at a reckoning. Karen Ginsburg, GTIP faculty and Jennifer Bury will be presenting an Introduction to Developmental Somatic Psychotherapy on November 16-17 in Bryn Mawr. Developed by Ruella Frank, PhD, and grounded in Gestalt theory, Developmental Somatic Psychotherapy (DSP) explores our earliest movement patterns as the building blocks for psychological functioning. As movement is our earliest language, it reflects and perpetuates our earliest relational experiences and present moment meanin...g-making. By paying attention to the feel of our movements within ourselves and with others, we can reorganize early psychophysical blocks as they emerge in the here-and-now. The workshop will include lecture, demonstration and experiments with sensing, moving, and feeling, and how these skills apply to, and enrich, our work as therapists, bodyworkers, or movement teachers of all kinds.
