Lord knows we could use a little peace. Today Jesus come to bring peace and new life to his followers who are reeling from losses and confused about how to live now. We don't have to deny our woundedness, or just power through. We don't have to have all the answers. Jesus comes to bring us into new life and give us the power to believe he will show up again and again because God wants us to know peace beyond our understanding and have life in his name. Join Pastor Carolyn Hetrick (preaching) and Pastor Scott Schul for worship today. https://youtu.be/SgztcsKR4rQ

Devoto for Thursday April 8, 2021 One of the things I most love about Grace Lutheran is our preschool. In "normal times," we are blessed with about 120 kiddos in our hallways, classrooms, and playground. Though our numbers are lower here in the pandemic, the energy and joy of our students is even more invigorating to our weary spirits in these days.... Today's Devoto photo is of a bench within one of our entrances/drop off sites. There the children wait with their teachers until everyone is safely screened and checked in. On most mornings, I arrive at the church at around the same time our preschoolers are arriving, and it's not uncommon for us to have a little visit as I prepare to head upstairs to my office. This morning, one of the boys was in a particularly chatty mood. He told me some truly wonderous tales about his green shirt that can miraculously turn purple. His vivid and creative imagination was exceeded only by his curiosity when he asked me, as I ascended the stairs, "What are you going to do?" I thought I had a clever answer for him. "I'm going upstairs to talk to Jesus." Indeed, that's something I do throughout my day. But by the time I reached the top of the steps, I realized that my conversation with Jesus had already begun, in the dancing eyes and joyfully wondering spirit of a little boy. Those few seconds reminded me that Jesus is going to show up in a multitude of surprising and delightful places today, both for me and for you. We best keep our eyes and hearts very open... Lord Knows We Could Use a Little Peace We perhaps all feel that way somehow, some time maybe today. Those first disciples sure did after Jesus' death, and their uncertainty. Then Jesus, risen, appears. And the very first thing he says to them is "Peace be With You." But knowing we are sometimes "not really there" because we are not at peace, Jesus comes again to make sure that everyone begins to believe that what he gives is life changing. Join us as we talk about what is speaking to us these days and let Jesus speak to you. https://www.buzzsprout.com//8284438-lord-knows-we-could-us

Friends, thank you for gathering with us last week via video, radio, streaming audio, and our drive-in services as we experienced the profound depth of Holy Week and the joy of Easter Sunday. Even as we rejoice at the love and unity present in our Grace family, this brief little video from the Taize community reminds us that Jesus's love and influence spans the globe. So sit back and enjoy as you hear, in 40 languages, the timeless truth that "Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!"

"If we can merge mercy with might/ and might with right/ then love becomes our legacy..." These words of youth poet laureate Amanda Gorman, might well capture the compassionate God we encounter in this week's readings. Grab your coffee and pull up a chair.
