Today's 5@5 Family / Individual Devotional... Have you ever been to a raging river? It can be fearful, with even the possibility of losing your life. The waters seem to rage out of control. The waves could overtake and make one powerless to survive. Would this be a place to let your children play unsupervised? No way! Read Psalm 23:1-2. This chapter describes the care of a good Shepherd. Several things stand out in the first two verses. A good Shepherd provides for His sheep,... we shall lack nothing. He also would lead His sheep to a place of rest in green pastures, a place to feed, a place where strength can be restored. Finally, the good Shepherd would only take His sheep near calm waters. There sheep would find a time of refreshing while being in a place of safety. Oh the love of the good Shepherd for His sheep! Jesus is that good Shepherd and He loves and cares for you! Encourage one another. Say something positive about each other. Give a family hug and close in prayer!

Today's 5@5 Family / Individual Devotional... Spring is here! Or is it? I know that I did not expect to see snow again last week, in late April! In fact, I already put the snow shovel in the shed until later this year. There are signs of spring though. I see flowers blooming, tree buds opening, tax season, baseball, and a few other signs that assure me that spring is upon us. Read Matthew 24:3-14. The disciples wanted to know about the signs of Jesus’ return. In verses 4-14 J...esus goes into detail about the signs of His coming back. Anybody can read this passage and realize that Jesus is coming soon! He is coming back to get those who loved Him and died, and those who love Him and are still alive. Are you ready? Titus 2:11-14 also talks about Jesus and His return. It explains that, with His help, we should say NO to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives. These are the people that Jesus will be coming back for! Get ready! Encourage one another. Say something positive about each other. Give a family hug and close in prayer! See more

Today's 5@5 Family / Individual Devotional... The earliest I can remember a family member dying, was when I was about 5 years old. My grandfather passed away. That phrase sounds so gentle and kind as we try to comfort the grieving. Fact is, many enter eternity without Jesus Christ as their friend and Savior only to find themselves in a burning torment known as hell! Jesus spoke a lot about the place. God wants all mankind to be saved, from this torment, and come to a know...ledge of the truth. In fact, God sent His Son into the world to be punished for the sins of humanity, the cross being the result. But God loved us so much that He raised His Son Jesus from the dead and now offers a personal relationship with a living Savior. Will you respond? Will you accept what Jesus has done for you? He can take away our sins and the punishment that comes with them. Will you live for Him, or will you die without Jesus and pay the price of justice yourself? The choice is yours. Read Hebrews 9:27-28 for directions before passing away! Encourage one another. Say something positive about each other. Give a family hug and close in prayer! See more

Today's 5@5 Family / Individual Devotional... Don’t fall! Slipping and falling is not fun. Bruises, embarrassment, broken bones and pain can happen! Pictured here is a simple rug to keep one from slipping and falling when getting out of the shower! Read 1 Corinthians 10:12-13. Even though God blessed Israel they still slipped and fell away from God. This can happen to each of us. Read Psalm 121:3 for encouragement! God's Word, the Bible, can help keep us from falling! For fun, get all of your family members to step on the same rug, at the same time, and pray for one another! If you have a large family, everybody just place one foot on the rug at the same time! Encourage one another. Say something positive about each other. Give a family hug and close in prayer!

Today's 5@5 Family / Individual Devotional... Christmas is coming!!! Have you ever received a Gift Card? You can spend it any way you want. The idea behind a Gift Card is that it is... a Gift! That’s right, it’s FREE! The Gift Card is not earned or necessarily deserved, but it is still a gift. The interesting thing about getting a Free Gift Card is that someone had to buy it. That’s right, the Gift Card had a price. Read Ephesians 2:8-9 to find out about another gift. (R...omans 6:23 another good verse!) The gift of salvation does have a price. It cost Jesus His life! 1 Corinthians 6:20 says that we were bought at a price. By His sacrifice He has redeemed us or bought us back. Spend a few minutes sharing what you would like for Christmas and thank God for His Free Gift! Encourage one another. Say something positive about each other. Give a family hug and close in prayer! Today's 5@5 Family / Individual Devotional... David and I am here making hardtack! Hardtack a staple food for Civil War soldiers, dates back to Ancient Rome. It is a simple biscuit made with flour, water, and a bit of salt, and then baked repeatedly to suck out as much moisture as possible. In fact, some troops in the Civil War were given hardtack from the Mexican-American War 15 years before. Hardtack must be soaked in brine, broth, soups, etc. to soften and become edible b...ut if kept dry can last for years! Read Hebrews 3:12-19. The Israelites hardened their hearts against God. They were sinful, disobedient, unbelieving, and rebellious. How do we keep a soft heart toward God? These verses remind us to encourage, obey, have faith and believe! The things of today’s world can harden our hearts. Can you name some? Go before the Lord, repent, worship, and stay soft-hearted in His presence! Encourage one another. Say something positive about each other. Give a family hug and close in prayer! See more

Today's 5@5 Family / Individual Devotional... What a joy it is to look back at a photo album! Pictures bring so many memories of good times, people we love, and places we’ve been to. We remember those that have made an impact on our lives too. Do you remember Lot’s wife? We find the story in Genesis 19. Lot and his family were told to flee from Sodom and Gomorrah before God would destroy the wicked cities. They were told not to look back. Lot’s wife looked back and became a pile of salt. This is such a sad story. Her love for the city, the lifestyle, and maybe even the sin caused her to die. Read Luke 17:32-33. How does this verse affect our lives? Take some time today to look at a picture or two. Talk about good memories! Encourage one another. Say something positive about each other. Give a family hug and close in prayer!

Today's 5@5 Family / Individual Devotional... Where were you born? Where we are born defines our citizenship unless we move. Although we can travel and visit a lot of places, we can never work our way from earth to heaven. All religions tell man what he must do to get to heaven, paradise, etc. Only a Biblical Christ tells mankind that there is nothing he can do to earn such a trip. Heaven, or eternal life is a gift, unearned. Mankind struggles with this fact and feels compelled to earn it in some way. Read Ephesians 2:8-9. Heaven is not a place the Church will reach one day. The Church is there. We were created to live there. We are now citizens of heaven, while here on earth we are pilgrims. We are just passing through. Encourage one another. Say something positive about each other. Give a family hug and close in prayer!
