Earth Day GPBP handed out flyers around Rittenhouse Square urging people to protect mother earth and call their congressperson to pass HR 669 a no first strike use of nuclear weapons. This prohibits a first strike without the consent of Congress taking the power away from just one person, the President.

A Chance for you to Do Something! EARTH DAY April 22 Grannies will be in Rittenhouse Square from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. We must do what we can to PROTECT MOTHER EARTH!... We would like you to join us and carry the message - we want to protect our earth. We will have signs and handouts and need your help to reach as many people as we can. We all know that Climate Change is real and we also know that the use of nuclear weapons can destroy all life on earth. To protect Mother Earth, we need to do all we can to stop damaging our planet. Climate Change is a slow, but increasingly rapid is its effects. The use of Nuclear Weapons can result in the death of every living plant and animal on earth - we are included - in a very short time. We will start at the 18th and Walnut - come pick up a sign and handouts. We will have signs, but you can make your own sign, if you prefer - the more visuals, the better!!

Attention and action needed! H.R. 1 has passed the house and S.1 faces steep opposition in the senate. We need to reach out to our Senators to advocate for this bill (202) 224-3121. The For the People Act of 2021 will protect voting rights across the country from the ongoing attacks now taking place in a way we haven't seen before. Also, call and write Senators Krysten Sinema of Arizona and Joe Manchin of Virginia to make an exception to the 60 vote filibuster in support of the Jimmy Stewart style "talk til you drop" filibuster for this one bill. Without this bill passed, all future elections will be dominated by money interests and NOT the will of the people.
