Hartslog Day Heritage Festival 09.12.2020

We have found there is a need in Alexandria and it's surrounding area! 2020 has not been easy to say the least! Santa's Christmas Angels are ready to help! Do you know a child that may not get a Christmas present? How about a Senior Citizen that can use help decorating or hanging lights? Is someone you know affected by Covid? Is your neighbor laid off, or are they quarantined? Whatever the case, we would love to help. Please fill out the form below if you know of som...eone who can use help or if you would like to be an Angel! Hartslog Day says:

Hartslog Day Heritage Festival 16.11.2020

Thank you for the overwhelming support for the Friends of the Hartslog Heritage Museum. Since 1977, the Hartslog Heritage Museum has pursued its mission to preserve the history and culture of Alexandria and the Hartslog Valley. We are grateful that we have been given the opportunity to be the stewards of the stories and artifacts that have shaped this area into the vibrant community that it has become. That mission continues in... 2020 despite the setbacks we’ve all experienced across the country. Having settled into the former First National Bank Building, 2020 started off with such promise. We planned the celebration of the bank building’s centennial, scheduled numerous monthly events and looked for ways to engage the community with the collections we have displayed in our two locations. Sadly, it was not meant to be. Since the spread of Coronavirus, we have had to cancel or postpone all events at the museum so far this year. In addition to our monthly programs and exhibits, we have had to forgo our beloved Hartslog Day for 2020--it was simply impossible given the current conditions. Postponing Hartslog Day has been especially frustrating because this decision comes at a time when everyone who lives in or has ties to our little community is struggling in one way or another. Hartslog Day is more than a craft fair, it is truly about a community togetherness. Because of this, we are resolved to still commemorate Hartslog Day in a small way this year and come back with an even bigger celebration in 2021. I’m sure we will all need it by then! As we continue our mission to preserve the history of Alexandria and the Hartslog Valley, we realize the challenges we are up against. Hartslog Day is our main source of revenue. Without it, we are in unknown and dangerous territory. This year, more so than ever, we are reliant on support from all those who hold the Museum, Hartslog Day, and the work we engage in dear. In addition to financial contributions, we are run completely by volunteers. If you have time and talents you think would be useful, please let us know! The donation of your time and financial support ensures that we will be able to do our work in the future to preserve our past. Please consider making a contribution and become a Friend to the Museum today. Membership is $10.00 per individual or $20.00 per family. These dues and donations from the community will helpus to keep the lights on this year and come back even stronger next year. We welcome your suggestions for future programming and exhibits. We also welcome our community members to volunteer to be a part of our museum family by helping at Hartslog Day or any other time during the year. Thank you for your past and future support. Sincerely, Jon Knepp, President Hartslog Heritage Museum Board of Direct
