Have shoulder pain that you think may be related to a rotator cuff issue? Here's a quick 4 minute video on how to improve and manage that pain with a tennis ball or lacrosse ball. If you're not sure what's going on or it's not getting better - get it checked - see a PT or doctor you trust. So proud to be trusted by so many in Central PA. Here's a nice 5-Exercise program that can help strengthen our legs and improve balance. These can be good anytime, but especially now - all you need is a chair at home. https://youtu.be/ugaQVV_4uF0

We see ALOT of people diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease. It can sound scary - we get many questions about it, and its effect on our lives. But don't worry - this shouldn't be a cause for alarm, and doesn't require surgery in the majority of cases. https://www.choosept.com//what-patients-should-know-about-
Please read, consider helping, and share. Bob is a great guy, and a great PT. He's probably helped some one you know. https://www.gofundme.com/f/yx7bdq-help-bob-fight
Neck Pain or stiffness? Most of us get it at some point. Check out these exercises we often prescribe to help people get feeling and moving better! If you have questions or are looking for help, contact us at (717) 533-7000 or [email protected] General Guidelines are to perform these 1-2X/day. You can do them more if you like if they feel good. Click on the links for video demos. 1. Chin Tucks:https://youtu.be/_AknIUAwvP0... Mike Reinold shows a few variations, starting with more "advanced", and then easier. Do whichever one seems a bit challenging but not painful/uncomfortable. If you can do them all - great, even better. 2. Corner/Chest Stretch:https://youtu.be/wz13wVcULxM Hold 20-30 sec. each for 3-4 repetitions. 3. Upper Trap Stretch: https://youtu.be/-r0eoFS7_5Q Also hold 20-30 sec. for 3-4 repetitions each side. 4. Seated Thoracic Stretch: https://youtu.be/9rI0uZQFYo4 Spend 2-3 minutes loosening up your upper back over the back of a chair. The mid back works together with the neck to give us full neck movement. This often helps the neck feel better too.
Not sure if you have a shoulder issue or not? One thing we always look at is someone's shoulder range of motion. Below is a good video you can use to quickly assess your shoulder motion for yourself. Most everyone should be able to do these movements relatively easily, and equally, on both sides. Exceptions may be if you've had prior surgery, or you have arthritis - you may not be 100% with these. Either way, if something doesn't seem right, seeing a good PT you trust can get you back moving again and enjoying the important things in life. Great read if you or someone you know is considering total knee replacement surgery. Outcomes are generally great, but this goes over a number of things we talk with our patients about in the clinic. If you're "younger" especially, and are having knee pain, working with a PT you trust can help you put off or avoid this surgery. Questions? Or want to speak with someone experienced in treating those with arthritic knees? Help is a call away. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related deaths among people 65 and older. And rates are rising in those 85 and above. Think and plan ahead. A good PT can help if you think you need to regain some strength and balance, or need suggestions for your walking or home environment. Help is just a phone call away if you or a loved-one need it. For those with Knee Pain with walking, squatting, stairs, etc. It's common to want to look at issues at the knee itself. BUT - don't forget to look at your ankles. How mobile are they? The vast majority of people we see for knee pain (or any lower body issue), don't have adequate ankle dorsiflexion. And restoring that is often an important part of getting rid of their knee pain. Check these short videos out on a couple of techniques to maximize your ankle mobility. If you're ...really sore on the foam roller, or feel stiff with the exercise shown, you should probably be doing them......almost daily. https://youtu.be/KfX3APC8lp4 https://youtu.be/xgta3Ai-9eQ For Outstanding PT where you're not a # Hershey: (717) 533-7000 Lancaster: (717) 945-6938 www.hersheyrehab.com
