Announcement Regarding In-Person Services: HSG will postpone blended (virtual and in-person) services until after the Holy season. We have found that we do not YET have the technical capacity to provide a quality service. As you may know, we have been trying to produce a blended in-person and online worship service on the first Sunday of each month. Our motivation is that some of our members would like to return to live worship, while at the same time continuing to provide ...the quality Zoom worship experience for our members and friends who would like to worship from home. For now, we will stay on Zoom for Sunday services, including our first Sunday Lord's Supper service and our Easter Sunday service, for the foreseeable future. We want to thank you all for your patience as we try to move to offer the best Sunday Worship Service that we possibly can.

One of the bits of "doing Jesus’s bidding in our time" is seeking reconciliation and renewal with the African American congregations that emerged from St. George's in the late 18th century for less than honorable reasons. This cross, made from nails that built St. George's infamous balcony, the site of Absalom Jones' and Richard Allen's hostile removal, was presented to Mother Bethel AME Church and The Historic African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas - AECST to symbolize a ne...w day. HSG’s ministry today has made a commitment to fight oppression of all forms, including oppression based on race, ethnicity, national origin, gender and sexual orientation. Today, our church is led by Rev. Mark I. Salvacion, who is the first pastor of color appointed to the HSG pulpit. In February 2018, Rev. Salvacion preached a memorial service at the African Episcopal Church of Saint Thomas on the Feast Day of Absalom Jones. HSG’s racist history is highlighted in its museum and tours. The Time Traveler program strives to educate its students about the injustices exhibited by the HSG white leaders during that time. And our history is discussed in detail in many of the worship services.
