I didn't have a place for my jadite towel bar so I decided to use it for my aprons and such inside the pantry.
I found a fantastic deco fabric online for a pair of original hoosier brand oak chairs with original stencil I've had for more than a decade. I'll also have enough to make a valance!
Aside from new solid surface countertops and subway tile which is to come soon the kitchen project is basically done for now. My favorite part starts tomorrow which is to accessorize! This kitchen will have lots of 1930s appeal, but not be too cluttered. The new gas range comes tomorrow which is a place holder until I buy a double oven O'Keefe & Merritt or other such vintage early 50s white porcelain range.
Packing silver I found my Gorham grapefruit spoons with gilt bowls. They gilding helps to prevent any odd metallic taste from the acidity and also, just look at them. Wouldn't you want to eat grapefruit with these?
After 6 Coats of primer and oil based paint I was finally able to get rid of the red. I am still working on Finishing the doors, but once they go up this kitchen will not look the same as it did 2 weeks ago when we closed. Here is a little sample of what the rest of the kitchen will look like. I will post a full video once it is done this week.
