Things I learned growing carrots for the first time: Most vegetables are easy to harvest. You see a red tomato, you pick it. When your cucumber is big enough, you snap it off. Carrots are mysterious. You have no idea how big they are under the ground, or what they look like. When you think they’re big enough you’ll try to harvest them by gently pulling the tops, but those will break off every single time. You have to physically dig them out of hard dirt, which is no e...asy task. You can’t just harvest a few carrots on your way out of the door to a friend’s house. You’ll be covered in sweat and dirt. And speaking of covered in dirt, you’ll need a vegetable brush, which will transfer all the dirt from your carrot to your kitchen sink. But then you’ll eat one, and they’re crunchy and delicious and, if you’ve planted these Dragon Carrots from @highmowingorganicseeds, really beautiful. So yea, I’d do it again next year. . . #carrots #purpledragoncarrots #homestead #garden #vegetable #freshlypicked #dragoncarrots See more
