Hospice of the Sacred Heart has adopted a plot of land at Nay Aug Park as the future Monica Project Memorial Pollinator Garden. The Monica Project is a support group for those who have experienced the loss of a child of any age. Hospice of the Sacred Heart offers the free of charge six-week bereavement series, which is support-based and education-based. The Monica Project is named in memory of Monica Patel, a beautiful eight-year-old girl who passed away in 2015 under the car...e of Hospice of the Sacred Heart. The Monica Project is available to families of Hospice of the Sacred Heart patients and is also open to the community. To register, please call 570-344-9027. The future garden is about 15' x 30' and is located along the 200 block of Arthur Avenue on the southern side of the Cleland Building in Scranton's Nay Aug Park. The garden needs a fair amount of work, but will be spectacular when finished this summer. Many blooming pollinator plants will attract bees, birds, butterflies and insects. A bench will be placed near the garden for peaceful prayer, reflection and meditation. The garden would not be possible without the generous guidance from the folks at the Scranton Recreation Authority, the Greenhouse Project, community volunteers and master gardeners.
