HPED Welcomes MANE LINE 2608 HPED is pleased to announce that the former Joyce’s Salon, located at 2608 E County Line Road in Haverford Township, is continuing under new ownership and with a new name: Mane Line 2608. New owners Jenine Crossan and Kelly Johnson, who took over January 1st of this year, previously worked at Joyce’s Salon for a combined 36 years and always planned to stay through retirement. Their love for their work and customers made the decision for them to pu...rchase and continue the business an easy one. Both Jenine and Kelly are Delaware County natives Jenine grew up in Ardmore and Kelly in Drexel Hill and they have raised their families in the area. Working at the salon for so many years, the other stylists and clients have become like family to them. They consider themselves The Cheers of beauty salons and seeing Kelly and Jenine personally greet each guest, as well as neighbors walking down the street, this seems an accurate description. They have decided to keep the Joyce’s Salon awning to pay homage to their history in the community and to show that the salon has survived the pandemic. While Mane Line 2608 has a number of long-term clients, Jenine and Kelly noticed that the surrounding neighborhood has more young families and they hope to grow with this new community. Mane Line 2608 services everyone from baby’s first hair cut through senior citizens. If you would like to schedule an appointment or learn more about Mane Line 2608, you can visit their website at https://www.maneline2608.com/ . Due to the pandemic Mane Line 2608 did not have the Grand Opening they hoped for and are planning a celebration for September. Make sure to follow their social media to learn more.

I’ve always enjoyed cooking and baking, but my experience was cooking from home, not anything big. I would always bring food and desserts into work for my frie...nds to try. My macarons were everybody’s favorite. My coworkers started buying them for holidays, their kids’ birthdays, or for their grandkids. My daughter advertised this as Momma’s Macarons. People would tell me that I should have my own restaurant, but I never really considered it. I didn’t think I wanted to be a restaurant owner. My husband and I worked in the hospitality/restaurant industry for 25 years both in hotels and in many many Thai restaurants. After working at the Westin Hotel for 17 years I remember starting to think about opening my own business. Only a few months later my neighbor, who owned Heng’s in Havertown, decided to retire. She asked my husband and me if we would be interested in taking over her restaurant. That’s how it all started - we decided to take a chance. It was unlike me, I’m not a risk taker. I like to play it safe. But my husband and I had the experience of working in Thai restaurants before, so we thought we could do it. People were familiar with Heng’s, but it wasn’t a super busy restaurant. We changed the name to Sugar and Spice to make it our own. The first couple weeks were quite slow, and I remember thinking to myself, Oh my gosh what am I getting myself into? Fortunately, a gentleman stopped by one day who worked for the local paper. He asked if I would be interested in having an interview. I’m not really the type of person who likes to be in the spotlight or have my picture taken, but he told me it would be good for the restaurant, so I said okay. He interviewed me on a Tuesday and the paper came out on Friday, and after that things picked up. It really helped. Our grand opening was January 7th, 2020. Our goal from the beginning has always been to buy the best meat and vegetables possible. Everything is made by hand. Our customers have told us on many occasions that our portions are very generous. These things are important to us. And we might be one of the only Thai restaurants who specialize in macarons. A few months after opening we received an email saying we won The Best of the Main Line and Western Suburbs for Thai cuisine. It was a huge honor, and this recognition really helped us stay open during Covid. We like the area very much; Havertown is full of nice people. I’m really grateful for the local families who have continued to support us. Despite how crazy the past 15 months have been, I wouldn’t change a thing. -Huong (Sugar and Spice Thai Food and More) See more
