The Economic impact of Coronavirus will not be known for months. At this point in the pandemic any job reports and unemployment rates are only accurate as of today and will most likely change in ways that will not be good for the economy.

If your company is applying for or has received a PPP Loan, please read: The PPP loans are best utilized by companies that have continued to operate but with reduced revenues. The loan/grant is meant to aid with payroll and/or limited other expenses while the business re-evaluates its operations and makes plans for moving forward. The PPP was never meant for businesses that are closed due to Government regulations and not permitted to reopen or only reopen in a limited capacity. Meeting the requirements of both dollar amounts and FTE (full time equivalent) employees is impossible with reduced staff. And - remember - you MUST meet both of those parameters to have the PPP forgiven. If you are unsure - have a long talk with your accountant PRIOR to spending any of those dollars.

If you received a stimulus payment that was in the name of or included a deceased relative - do NOT spend it. IRS did not take the time to remove deceased taxpayers from the stimulus payout files. www.IRS.gov has this information: A Payment made to someone who died before receipt of the Payment should be returned to the IRS by following the instructions about repayments. Return the entire Payment unless the Payment was made to joint filers and one spouse had not died before receipt of the Payment, in which case, you only need to return the portion of the Payment made on account of the decedent. This amount will be $1,200 unless adjusted gross income exceeded $150,000.
