Interesting #hip #exoskeleton powered by #Caplex in action at University of Nebraska at Omaha. Philippe Malcolm, Arash M. Gonabadi, and team are exploring a hybrid exosuit/exoskeleton design to assist folks with peripheral artery disease walk with less effort. This work was presented at #vASB2020 and utilizes a similar control strategy to the one described in the team’s most recent full-length article in IEEE TNSRE: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/9078836 - with Univer...sity of Nebraska at Omaha- Department of Biomechanics #AssistiveDevices #Biomechanics

Awesome to see #ultra #runner, Jacky Hunt-Broersma, putting a custom #Caplex system at Vanderbilt University’s CREATE center through its paces! Thanks to Jacy and our friends at Vanderbilt for making this exciting research about the potential benefits of bi-articular actuation of #prosthetic #feet possible. #AmputeeLife #AssistiveDevices - with Jacky Hunt-Broersma - ncrunnerjacky

We recently delivered a #Caplex system to our first international customer: Queen’s University in Canada! Really excited to be working with Jess Selinger, Megan McAllister, and others at the #Neuromechanics Lab. We’re used to hands-on installation and training, so remote setup was certainly a challenge, but we're getting the hang of it. #Humotech #Innovation - with Queen's University and School of Kinesiology and Health Studies.

Another exciting update from our collaborators at the VA Center for Limb Loss and Mobility (CLiMB)! A new study of a patient-centered test-drive strategy for prosthetic foot prescription will be starting later this month. The study will focus on understanding the relationship between prosthetic foot mechanical properties and stability and falls-related outcomes in those with lower limb loss. David Morgenroth, MD leads the project as PI and it’s been funded by a 4-year, $2M g...rant from the Department of Defense Orthotics and Prosthetics Outcomes Research Program. This study is a continuation of an ongoing collaboration between the VA, including the Minneapolis Adaptive Design and Engineering (MADE) Program and Humotech and will utilize 2 degree-of-freedom prosthesis emulator technology first developed at Carnegie Mellon University. #Mobility #Accessibility #Prosthetics #Stability #Falls #Balance #Prescription Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs - CDMRP

Exciting update from our collaborators at the VA Center for Limb Loss and Mobility (CLiMB)! Beth Halsne was the recipient of an Orthotic and Prosthetic Education and Research Foundation (OPERF) 2020 Fellowship Award for research entitled, Comparison of Gait Biomechanics with Commercial Feet and Emulated Feet Using a Robotic Prosthetic Foot Emulator in People with Transtibial Amputation. This one-year fellowship recognizes outstanding graduate students and their excellence i...n research related to the O&P profession. Beth and her advisor David Morgenroth, MD at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System will use this award to evaluate walking in people with below-knee amputations using the Humotech Caplex ankle-foot prosthesis programmed to emulate the mechanical properties of commercial prosthetic feet compared to walking with the corresponding commercial feet. #Caplex #AssistiveTech #Prosthetics

The Stanford University Biomechatronics Lab developed an awesome open source platform for perturbing people during locomotion! It’s a lot smaller than Humotech’s standard actuator units, but still packs a punch (as you can see in the video). See the full series of videos at https://biomechatronics.stanford.edu/bump-em Humotech is here to support labs wanting to build this system.
