FAYHA Ice Miners 22.04.2021

Let’s see how our Ice Miners did this weekend... Weekend Review April 9-11, 2021 ... 8U- The Ice Miners travelled to Greensburg this weekend for the Laurel Tournament where they faced Westmoreland, SHAHA, and Morgantown. The team game out hot Friday making quick work of Westmoreland, dominating the score board. Saturday brought tough competition but the Ice Miners still came ahead with wins beating Morgantown 5-3, and SHAHA 10-7. Coming into the Championship game the team had earned 13/15 points to place them in first place. The Championship game proved to be tough as the score ending the first was 1-1, and ending the second was 2-2. The two goals were scored by Weston Bryner and Vanessa Yanez. At the end of the game the Miners pulled the goalie giving Brandon Dix the opportunity to get the 3rd goal. Unfortunately Morgantown was able to get a few more goals in, including an empty netter to make the final score 5-3, a loss for the Miners. Even though Brody Stone put up a great effort in the net, this Morgantown team provided to be too tough. Congratulations to Morgantown on their victory. 10U- This weekend the Ice Miner participated in their playoffs. Game 1 vs the Renegades ended in an 8-0 win. Liam Debolt got a hat trick, while other goals were scored by Luke King, Liam King, Jordan Hamborsky, and Ryan Boone. Game 2 vs the Yetis started slow for the Miners with the first period ending in a 2-2 tie. The Miners then brought the fire and ended the game with an 11-3 win. Goals being scored by Ryan Boone, Riley Denny, Liam Debolt, Luke King, Liam King, and for his first goal of the season, Nathan Grund! On Sunday the Miners faced the Johnstown Jets in the semi finals for a heart stopping game. The game continued back and forth and ended the 3rd period in a 4-4 tie. After a 5 minute overtime, the score still tied, the two teams went to a 4v4 2nd OT. With much battling back and forth, this OT also ended in a tie leading to a five man shoot out. Both the Jets goalie and the Miners goalie, Braedyn Robb, shut down all 5 shooters. In a sudden death shootout, the Jets finally broke one through ending the game in a 5-4 loss for the Miners. Throughout the weekend assists came from Nash Bryner, Remy Geyer, Joey Mohar, Fabiola Yanez, and many others. Great passing and pressure from Roman Geyer, Isaac Allen, and the rest of the team got complements from the viewers, refs, scorekeepers, and opposing coaches. The defense worked their magic all weekend only giving up a total of 22 shots on goal throughout all the games. Although the ending wasn’t what we had hoped for, we couldn’t be more proud of the entire team who worked so hard. We also want to congratulate the Johnstown Jets on winning their Championship game.
