What happens to old carpet padding? We recycle it! The carpet padding/cushion that is removed from our job sites is brought back to our warehouse facility and handled properly; we bail it, store it, and send it away to be recycled and ultimately turned into re-bond. ... "Re-bond" (recycled) carpet padding is made by combining shredded pieces of used carpet padding with FPF waste. FPF (Flexible Polyurethane Foam) is what you'd find in car seats, furniture, mattresses: cushion. This process diverts over ONE BILLION POUNDS of scrap per year which would've been destined for landfills!
