This is an incredible video highlighting the history and mechanics of the Codorus Furnace, a CSYC property. Codorus Furnace was erected in 1765. It was once owned by James Smith of York, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Cannonballs were cast in the original furnace during the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Pig iron (or a medium sized pieces of iron) was floated downstream to Philadelphia and Baltimore to service early manufacturing. The furnace finally ceased operations in 1850. This video was created by three 8th Grade teachers at Northeastern Middle School David Raymond, Mike Graham, Eric Gimbi and edited by David's Son, Alex Raymond who is a senior at Kutztown University. Thank you for letting us share this great video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YGxtaHQP9g&t=43s
