The squat is one of THE BEST exercises you can do for your body! I know a lot of people try to skip it b/c it's challenging, but it's well worth the process & patience it takes to get good at this one. Why is the squat so important, you ask? The squat is going to strengthen your ENTIRE BODY. Yes, they're predominantly working your lower body, (therefore are going to make your legs and booty look better, burn fat, and make you stronger), but they're also GREAT for the lower... back, core/abs, and are just generally going to build an all-around stronger body due to the strength it takes to lower and raise your body. They're also going to help you build stronger ankle, knee, and hip joints. Studies show that people who do squats on a regular basis are able to stay mobile later on in life! If you're trying to get stronger, want to improve literally any activity you do, and just want to feel better ~ don't skip your squats!! #workoutwednesday #personaltraining

I love this approach! When I want a good burger, I get one, but I've found that I don't miss the fries so I skip them and maybe get a salad instead. Every Friday I order pizza, but I snack on a cup of raw veggies before I tear into the pizza. I don't do All-or-Nothing. We can learn to enjoy the foods we love~ guilt-free & without spiraling into overeating just because we ate something that maybe wasn't the healthiest. I can tell that by taking this approach~ of the pizza ...AND the veggies, or the burger AND the salad, I've flipped the script in my head that used to tell me it HAD TO BE~ All-or-Nothing, and turned it into something much healthier and more balanced. Maybe voice eaten this way and had a healthy relationship with. If so, consider yourself very blessed, because many of us struggle. We've used food and other substances to self soothe/escape, and comfort ourselves. #foodfreedom #healthcoaching #healthyhabits

I have wanted to design programs for people for so long!! I "thought" I had a pretty good idea of what they needed to do, but as a massage therapist, there was only so much I could suggest (within the limits of my licensure). And don't get me wrong, massage is for relieving pain!! But it's not always gonna get to the ROOT of the problem. There's usually an underlying weakness or imbalance that's causing pain somewhere in the body. And the area of the pain isn't n...ecessarily the SOURCE of the pain. The ACE personal trainer's program has made me feel very confident that I can meet with people, understand their lifestyle, their pain and limitations, and design a program to address whatever's going on. Maybe for you it's not so much pain, but you're just not sure where to start. You need a program designed for exactly where you are in YOUR fitness journey. There's always something we can do!! Are you one of the lucky people who actually loves veggies?? If so, I hate you!!jk!! I have had to really WORK to find ways to get these suckers into my diet. I've experimented with roasting, steaming, dipping, you name it~ I've attempted to enjoy it or at least it!... 2 years into this journey and I'm happy to say with all honesty that they've grown on me. I've learned to take how I feel about them out of the equation because I know their health benefits far outweigh how I FEEL and I've got to truly find a way to get in the recommended servings each day if I care about things like living well, living into old age and such!! I know that I feel better when I'm getting in at least 2, 3 is even better and 4 would be outstanding (but rarely happens)! It takes time & patience to change our taste buds to crave healthier food! I enjoyed (and, yes I mean it) this cucumber, red pepper and carrot open-faced sandwich with red pepper hummus, salt & pepper today for lunch! Only way it could've been better is if I would've had a ripe avocado to mash on top!! Getting to a place of peace with food has been an arduous journey. I've alternated between days of trying to restrict which would inevitably end in days of bingeing. Once I got the alcohol out of the way 5 years ago, I could finally start to do the work on my relationship with food. Because once one behavior goes away, there will ALWAYS be another substance or behavior ready & willing to jump into that hole left by your addiction (if you're not working a program of rec...overy). Your brain wants/needs to overdo it on something, anything and food is such an easy choice. I mean, we can't exactly avoid food. So figuring out how to eat well took some time and a lot of soul searching. I've had food on a pedestal all of my life. It really was there for me in any capacity whenever I needed to just forget about life. I could pull in literally anywhere and order some greasy food to make myself feel better. It was a fast -fix or a band-aid, if you will. *** As an addict, it also very much appealed to my impulsiveness and helped nurture my lack of planning~ 2 MAJOR behaviors I also had to look at. I won't go into all the details of how I finally realized that food was never gonna save me, not gonna heal me, and was not even meant to be a hobby or a past time. But there are programs out there that can help you to learn how to eat again or maybe for the first time. It IS a process; not gonna happen overnight. But, like anything else in life, if you stick with it, you will can peace & freedom around food. Right now I'm thoroughly enjoying eating all foods in moderation. I watch my portions and try to eat 80% real food ~ food with no labels (plants) or less processed (skip the white sugar & flour/boxed foods). I eat when I'm hungry and I understand hunger is not an emergency. I drink a lot of water and pack food with me everywhere I go. Try to be #dinneranddone after 6 p.m. See more
