Islamic Center of Lancaster 23.05.2021

On Monday, March 22, 10 innocent people between the ages of 20 and 65 were killed when a gunman opened fire at a Boulder, Colorado supermarket. Attack survivors... and families who have lost loved ones are grappling with the reality of this senseless act of violence. We invite people of all faiths to show solidarity by financially supporting the victims and their families. Help to respond to hate with love, to evil with good (link below). As the creator of this LaunchGood crowdfunding campaign, CelebrateMercy stands in solidarity with the victims, including those in the Asian-American community who lost their lives in Atlanta, Georgia on March 16, 2021. All fundraising proceeds will go towards the shooting victims' families and caretakers, helping them with both their immediate and long-term expenses. No amount of money will bring back their loved ones, but we do hope to lessen their burden in some way. Donate and learn more about the campaign and victims at this link LaunchGood.com/Boulder

O humankind! Indeed, We have created all of you from a single male and female. Moreover, We have made you peoples and tribes, so that you may come to know one another.... And, indeed, the noblest of you, in the sight of God, is the most God-fearing of you. Indeed, God is all-knowing, all-aware. The Quran, 49:13 Image courtesy of USCMO

With refugee travel now officially reinstated, we are looking to you, our incredible community, to gather together as Welcome Teams to walk alongside neighbors ...new to Lancaster! Welcome Teams are community groups or faith communities who collaborate with CWS Lancaster to empower a refugee family new to Lancaster by walking alongside them in intentional friendship, breaking through the cycle of isolation that oftentimes comes with being new to a community. As with most anything nowadays, showing welcome as a Welcome Team in the time of a global pandemic will look socially different. But truly, your time with a refugee family can make all the difference as they rebuild their life in Lancaster, no matter the social distance. Please know that your safety and client safety are paramount, and we will onboard you and your team members effectively and efficiently, including protocols in accordance with State and CDC guidelines, should you decide to travel this journey of welcome alongside CWS Lancaster and neighbors new to Lancaster. If you think your community group or faith community would like to be a Welcome Team, we would love to hear from you! Please send a note to Elyse Pollak at [email protected].
