Like you, we’ve watched with horror and sadness the social unrest across the country this week sparked by the death of George Floyd while being restrained by Mi...nneapolis police officers. Mr. Floyd’s death follows the disturbing recent deaths of other African Americans, including Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia and Breonna Taylor in Louisville. These events remind us how much work remains to be done to move our country beyond racism, bigotry and inequality. For more than a century, Geisinger has been committed to serving the needs of our communities and everyone who calls them home. And as a nationally recognized health system, we know that attracting the best and brightest to join our Geisinger family means everyone is welcome. Happy St. Patrick's Day! #StPatricksDay

On February 20, 2020, the Luzerne County Community College Science Club hosted a talk from Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, also known as S.T.E.M. From ISS Solutions, Barbara Maguire, Vice President of Quality and Geisinger Clinical Engineering, and Lori Allocca, Site Coordinator at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, attended. Using the ‘HTM in a Box’ materials provided by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), Barbara presented an overview of Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) to the club. She discussed the benefits of working in HTM and gave an outline of the knowledge, certifications and skills required for several HTM occupations. It was a great evening! #HTM #STEM #WomeninSTEM
