Jackson Baptist Church 23.10.2020

We are resuming our 9 am Bible Study today, so feel free to head on out for some great teaching! Worship Service at 10!

Jackson Baptist Church 15.10.2020

Dear Church Family & Friends of Jackson Baptist Church, Due to the circumstance caused by the corona-virus, we have decided to suspend worship services and activities at our Church for a few weeks. The reasons for this are as follows: 1) We love people, and we do not want to see anyone hurt by the spreading of the virus. Because of the highly contagious nature and the length of the incubation period of the virus, we could unknowingly and unintentionally be spreading it. We fe...el that, at this point, it is better to be safe than sorry. 2) Our Governor has instructed us to work together to try and slow the spread of the virus. We want to try to honor the authority that God has placed over us. In this case, the Governor is not asking us to disobey our Lord or His Word. We think that we should be wise and reasonable citizens. We will inform everyone when we will have services again. As of now, we will not meet for the next two weeks. At that time, we will reevaluate the conditions, consider what the authorities are advising, and decide what to do at the beginning of April. In the meantime, we are establishing a Zoom link to be able to communicate, teach and share the Word during the week. If you would like to be part of our online services, please contact Pastor with your email. A link will be forwarded to you so you will be able to see and hear the service. We will inform you of the days and times of the services. The church email address is: [email protected]. Please be asking the Father to stop the spread of the virus and to heal all those who have contracted it. Please ask for the protection of all of our citizens. Also, please ask the Lord to help our President and all of our leaders. They all need strength, wisdom, and courage to bring this situation to a rapid close. If you have any needs during this time, feel free to contact Pastor Haskell. Our Church will do what we may to help. We love & appreciate you, Pastor Haskell

This is Shrek the sheep. He became famous several years ago when he was found after hiding out in caves for six years. Of course, during this time his fleece gr...ew without anyone there to shorn (shave) it. When he was finally found and shaved, his fleece weighed an amazing sixty pounds. Most sheep have a fleece weighing just under ten pounds, with the exception usually reaching fifteen pounds, maximum. For six years, Shrek carried six times the regular weight of his fleece. Simply because he was away from his shepherd. This reminds me of John 10 when Jesus compares Himself to a shepherd, and His followers are His sheep. Maybe it’s a stretch, but I think Shrek is much like a person who knows Jesus Christ but has wandered. If we avoid Christ’s constant refining of our character, we’re going to accumulate extra weight in this worlda weight we don’t have to bear. When Shrek was found, a professional sheep shearer took care of Shrek’s fleece in twenty-eight minutes. Shrek’s sixty pound fleece was finally removed - enough wool to make suits for 20 men! All it took was coming home to his shepherd. I believe Christ can lift the burdens we carry, if only we stop hiding. He can shave off our ‘fleece’that is, our self-imposed burdens brought about by wandering from our Good Shepherd. Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
