Project Farm did a great job at comparing air filters that are commonly found. The 4" filter did the best and has been our standard filter for about the past 20 years. With the 1" filter you don't want to go too high with the filter rating since you can damage your system if the filter gets too restricted. Our two most common manufactures of humidifiers that we carry are Lennox Healthy Climate and Aprilaire. They have powered and bypass humidifiers.
