After tonight, we will be closing again until further notice. Tune into Governor Wolf for more details.. I'm glad that we are financially secure enough to survive this..... I'm sure this has killed a lot of busineses and Legions. I would not blame anyone for defying this order. God bless!

Memorial Day is going to be a little different this year because of the Coronavirus. We normally do all the Memorials in town and cemeteries out the mountain on Sunday, then the cemeteries in town on Memorial Day. This decision about what to do was a very hard one with all the coronavirus stuff going on. Red, Yellow.. who cares. If you are in an elevated risk group, the virus is still out there and it is deadly.... One of our primary concerns is that most of our Legionairres are older and in the elevated risk category. Another concern was that we don't want to be the cause of people congregating in large groups. So, we decided that we are only doing brief ceremonies at the four cemeteries in town on Memorial Day. We will all be wearing masks and social distancing. I hate to say this but the public is NOT encouraged to attend. So that's why I am not announcing what time the ceremonies will be. We would like to perform our ceremonies to honor the fallen and minimize our time and possible exposure to the virus. If you just so happen to be in the vicinity while we are there, please wear a mask and keep your distance from us and other people. Thanks. Commander Keith McQuait

Just received an email from the PLCB. Two years ago, they started hitting us with a darned $700 surcharge for our liquor license. They would give that money to the local municipalites. For us, JT borough. In what world does it make sense to take money from the American Legion to give to the borough? I guess they figured we couldn't squander it away as fast as the government can. Anyway, common sense finally prevailed and they rescinded that for fire companies and veterans or...ganization... but not until August after this years license renewal. Also, If I read the email right, sounds like you'll be able to buy beer in gas stations now (if they get a license). So now we have legalized alcohol (everywhere), gambling, and drugs covered (aka medicinal marijuana). Is legalized prostitution next? It just proves that anything behavior is acceptable, as long as it's state sanctioned. Hypocrites.

We had our Flag Day Ceremony today. I didn't advertise that we were doing it because I wanted to limit the number of people present due to the Covid19 pandemic. We recorded the event for those who would like to watch it. Thank you to everyone who attended and participated.

Wearing a mask is required when standing or moving about, but may be removed while seated. Bar seating may be utilized if customers are seated and comply with physical distancing guideline of at least 6 feet or physical barriers between customers. Standing in a bar area will not be permitted. A maximum of four customers that have a common relationship may sit together, while adhering to the physical distancing guidelines or barriers between other customers. Carbon County is going green! The bar will be opening this Friday at 5 pm. This is all new for everyone, so it'll be a bit of learning curve.
