This week's business spot light is Allegheny West Eye Care. I met with Dr. David Quinn, who was one of the founders of Allegheny West Eye Care when it opened in... 1989. Dr. Quinn started the practice with his colleague after working under an Optometrist for two years following his Optometry schooling. Dr. Quinn was able to answer a few questions below: Q: What do you enjoy most about owning Allegheny West Eye Care? A: Providing good care to our patients and being able to serve as resource for our local community Q: What motivated you to start your own practice? A: I had a desire to be independent and not work for someone else Q: What advice would you give to someone starting in the Optometry field and wanting have their own practice? A: You need to understand the competitive nature of this business. It's challenging to be independent, but it allows you to provide personal and individualized care. There would be fewer opportunities to do that if you were owned by a conglomerate. Thank you Dr. Quinn for sharing in this week's business spotlight!

Each week I will be writing a brief article to spot light a business in North Fayette. This week's feature - the North Star Restaurant and Tiki Bar I met with ...Dean Prahaska, one of the the owners and he explained the North Star was originally a Bed and Breakfast Inn started in 1840. Dean and Mark purchased the building and opened the North Star Restaurant in 1995. The best selling item at the North Star are the hoagies, especially the Italian Hoagie. Dean was able to answer a few questions below: Q: What do you enjoy most about owning the North Star Restaurant? A: The satisfaction of watching people enjoy what we have created Q: What has the COVID pandemic forced you to do differently? A: More marketing and updates on social media Q: What advice would you give someone who was starting a restaurant? A: There are many variables in the industry don't do what you love, but rather, do what the markets love. Give people what they want. Thank you Dean for sharing in this week's business spotlight.
