Pitbulls are one of the most loyal, gentle, loving breeds on the planet. Ignorance about Pitbulls stems from false narratives portrayed by the media based of individual events which make up about 0.0001% of Pitbulls on Earth. That false narrative was easily accepted because of the way Pitbulls look. They’re the most neglected breed and based on the way they’re treated in just the United States alone, the number of incidents involving Pitbulls should be at least 10 times hig...her than it is. Yet people still say Pitbulls are aggressive and should be banned. But when you ask them on what premise? They don’t have an actual answer. They just repeat the same narrative portrayed by the media they’re extremely powerful. They’re aggressive. But they never have an actual argument. It’s all just fake facts. Yes, they are powerful, but so is a MAC Truck as well as many other breeds. No, they’re not aggressive. Just because there are individual examples of Pitbulls being aggressive towards people does not mean it’s because they’re a Pitbull. Causation does not equal correlation. Someone could never prove or even argue that the dogs in these independent events attacked a person or got aggressive towards people because they’re a Pitbull. In fact there’s a strong argument that the opposite is true. That those dogs attacked or got aggressive because they were neglected, mistreated, and under-socialized. Pitbulls are the most neglected and mistreated dogs in the United States. The neglect and mistreatment is much more likely the cause of those dog’s aggression than it be the fact that they’re a Pitbull. First of all, any breed that is neglected and treated poorly in mass amounts will absolutely have cases of dogs attacking people. Second, the word Pitbull has always been a generic term to describe dogs with a certain look. The mixture of breeds in the dog didn’t effect whether it was considered a Pitbull. They were a Pitbull if they had a certain look. So, how can several different mixtures of breeds all be categorized as this one thing that is apparently aggressive by nature? That would be one spectacular coincidence if all the mixtures of breeds that make what we call a Pitbull are all aggressive by nature. I think it’s safe to say there’s a better chance of puppies appearing out of nowhere than all of the breed combinations be aggressive by nature. So, if puppies just start popping up in your living room like poof! Poof! Then maybe we should give Breed Specific Legislation a chance. But until then, maybe we should do something that makes sense? Breed Specific Legislation is an absurd attempt to fix a problem that doesn’t exist. We have an ignorance problem not a breed problem. We need to educate people about how to treat animals not ban a breed of dog.

Fetch can be a great way to exercise your dog or puppy. It must be taught by breaking it down into a few smaller games. For example the first step is to teach your dog or puppy to chase the ball and pick it up when he catches up to it. Don’t worry about asking him to bring him it back yet. This is what most dog owners get caught up on. A lot of times this is what causes people to look at fetch like it’s impossible to teach to their dog or to feel like their dog just can’...t learn it. When it’s broken down into a few different sequences of behaviors it becomes much easier. Focus on getting your dog excited to chase a ball or a retrieving dummy. Don’t move on to anything else until this step is at 100%.

Landon’s practicing Bishop’s recall. He does such a great job and follows directions so well. These are great skills for a 5 year old to start developing. Learning how to teach, how to be patient and switch teaching styles if needed, pay attention and follow direction.

Went up to Coatesville today to see Kacey and the kids new apartment. It’s really really nice. It’s the first time i’ve seen the dogs in at least 4 months. I took Bishop over to the park and for a little walk. Well it turned into a long walk because we got lost but that’s a different story. Lol. I put the long line on Bishop because Kacey hasn’t had him off-leash since the last time I was over her old apartment and she didn’t think he would still listen. I knew he would but, since we were in a place I’ve never been and just to be safe, I put the line on him. Not only did he listen but, he listened as well as the last time I was with him! If it’s done the right way and with consistency good training won’t go away in a few short months.

Hi everyone, K-9 State of Mind is still temporarily closed. As many of you know I was very sick for a pretty long time. I am much better now and working my way back to 100%. I would like to apologize to everyone who did not receive all of their services and also the lack of communication on our end. Unfortunately I was very sick and our employees eventually had to leave and do what was in their best interest. Things could have and should have been handled much better. I tak...e full responsibility for everything. This has been a very trying time. However I have learned from all my mistakes and I know exactly what measures need to be in place to ensure nothing like this ever happens again. I will keep everyone updated about when we will be operating again. Once we are operating again, we will be taking no new clients until every client who paid for services that were not fully received is taken care of. I will talk to everyone individually and create a plan on a case by case basis as every clients situation is different. Any client who wishes to contact me about their individual case can call or text me at (484) 841-3406. I hope to hear from you soon. None of this was ever my intent! Again my sincerest apologies! Jay
