Happy #Thanksgiving from FELS! We’ve been hard at work trying to come up with the best paper #turkey to share with our community. Here is how to make our favori...te one at home! You will need: - Safety scissors - Glue stick - 4 sheets of construction paper (We used brown, red, yellow, and orange. But, you can use whatever colors you want!) - Markers - Pretty leaves from outside - Bonus: Adding googly eyes will really bring your turkey to life! Instructions: 1) Take your brown (or whichever color you like) sheet of construction paper and put your hand on top with your fingers spread out. Use a marker to trace around each of your fingers and the palm of your hand. Do you see a turkey shape yet? 2) Carefully cut around the traced lines using your safety scissors. This is the body of your turkey! 3) Set the body aside and let’s move on to the face! Take your orange (or just another color) sheet of construction paper and carefully cut one of the corners off at a diagonal- there is your beak! You can also use this same sheet to cut out legs and feet for your turkey if you want! 4) Now let’s get creative with feathers! You can use those pretty fall leaves collected earlier and carefully lay them out across the fingers of your turkey body. Be careful not to cover up the thumb! This will be your turkey’s head. 5) Time to glue the rest of your gobbler together! Use your glue stick to stick on your turkey’s beak, legs, and a googly eye.
Today is #NationalSTEMDay and did you know that FELS incorporates STEM into our daily curriculum? Whether it is a math activity or a science investigation of bu...gs, incorporating STEM into our daily lessons teaches children concepts they will be able to apply as they grow and develop. #morethanjustadaycare See more
Our Interim President and CEO, Taka Agawa recently visited the Kehillah Early Learning Center and spent some time with our youngest babies. At FELS, we're more than just a day care, we're a family. #morethanjustadaycare #ECE #EarlyChildhood
What better way to have fun on a Friday than to play with kinetic sand? This hands-on activity strengthens fine motor skills and allows children to use their creativity and imagination to create different objects. #funatFELS
Preschoolers are busy learning some basic measurement concepts. Using the 1-inch square they were able to measure the size of their own feet! #morethanjustadaycare #ECE #earlychildhood
Welcome back to FELS! Today we welcomed back new and returning families to all FELS centers! We asked the children how excited they were to be back at school an...d we think these pictures sum it up perfectly. Parents, if you took any 'first day' of school photos from this morning share them in the comments below! #FirstdayatFELS #welcomeback #Morethanjustadaycare #ECE #EarlyChildhood See more
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! FELS kids learned an important lesson on recycling old materials (such as newspapers) and created new items from them. How awesome is this dress created from the newspaper? #morethanjustadaycare #ECE #EarlyChildhood
Our spacious outdoor play areas give children the perfect amount of room to run, jump, and, of course, build up those upper body muscles in order to cross the monkey bars. #FunatFELS
Some of our toddlers at Kehillah ELC enjoyed some indoor gross motor activity! Full body muscle work (like walking across a balance beam) helps children gain strength, coordination, and confidence. Plus, it’s just fun! #ToddlerTipTuesday
Using the Creative Curriculum, children completed a "molding dough" activity. Children first created an object out of dough then used their fine motor skills to... rip, stretch, and cut it. All FELS Centers follow the Creative Curriculum - a comprehensive, research-based, and developmentally appropriate curriculum that follows children’s interests as they work together to explore, investigate, and make discoveries about the world around them and the people, places, and objects that are relevant to their lives. #morethanjustadaycare #ECE #EarlyChildhood See more
A great tip from the American Academy of Pediatrics regarding #DrowningPrevention
Are you looking for a fun way to grow your toddlers social and emotional skills? Nursery Rhyme Karaoke may be your answer. Singing and dancing promotes creative expression and use of imagination, plus, its fun! #toddlertiptuesday
Healthy meals and snacks are key to a child's development. At FELS, we provide children with yummy (and healthy) meals and snacks throughout the day to keep their bellies full until it's time to go home! #Morethanjustadaycare #ECE #EarlyChildhood
#FELSStaffPicks the time has come! We are so excited for FELS President and CEO Mark Ornstein to share a very special reading of a beloved children’s book at no...on on Monday, April 19th. Leading up to Mark’s reading, we want to hear from you! What’s your favorite children’s book? What book would you like to see Mark read? Share with us in the comments below! Mark’s favorite book is The Day the Crayons Quit written by Drew Daywalt and illustrated by Oliver Jeffers. I picked that book because it ultimately is about appreciation. The crayons feel like they are not valued. By the end of the book, the boy draws pictures utilizing all of the crayons. In life, we sometimes need to be reminded when someone does not feel valued and appreciated. Ultimately, like the boy, it is how you react and course correct to ensure the people you cherish in your life feel your affection. #FunatFELS
#FELSStaffPicks Ms. Kirah, Lead Teacher in our preschool room at Kehillah Early Learning Center chose "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein as her favorite chil...dren's book. "I can remember my mom reading this to me way back when I was little. I read this to my children when they were small. Now I read it to yours. We all love it the same!"

This toddler is having the time of his life figuring out how to navigate through the opening of this soft tunnel. Soft tunnels help toddlers work on their gross motor skills and also teach an important lesson of never giving up and always try again. #ToddlerTipTuesday
Holding a brainstorming session to gather ideas on what will happen to our eggs during our sink or float egg experiment! The children all presented such excellent ideas, sometimes it's hard to believe they're only 4 and 5 years old! #morethanjustadaycare
Introducing #FELSStaffPicks! In the coming weeks (TBD), our President and CEO Mark Ornstein will be reading a beloved children's story to our social media commu...nity. In support of this initiative, we're going to be sharing photos of our FELS staff members with their favorite children’s books. For our first participant, we have Kitty Garrett, Administrative Assistant in our Central Administration Office, whose favorite book is Biscuit Storybook Favorites by Alyssa Satin Capucilli and Photos by Pat Schories. "I have chosen Biscuit Storybook Favorites because it’s one of my daughter Noelle’s favorite books. The collection of stories in this book is great for beginner readers and the illustrations are bright and colorful. It has been very entertaining reading Biscuit Storybook Favorites to my daughter and proud to say she now reads it to me. As the saying goes ‘Reading is FUNdamental’; take time to enjoy a good book with your kiddos and create memories that will last a lifetime." #FunatFELS
All smiles for spring! Children enjoyed a nature walk and discovered that while leaves may look the same, they actually are all different shapes and sizes! #FunatFELS
Toddlers love manipulatives! Manipulatives can help strengthen fine motor skills, identify shapes and colors, and teach math skills such as counting and sorting. #ToddlerTipTuesday

Did you know that newly fallen snow can also be used to make snocanoes? Preschoolers worked on a science activity where they (safely) used snow, vinegar, baking... soda, and food coloring to erupt their snocanoes. The children enjoyed learning about how different ingredients react when put together. #FunatFELS #ECE #EarlyChildhood See more

Sink or Float is a popular STEM activity among our children, they love making their predictions on whether or not the object will be dense enough to sink or light enough to float, and, it's even more exciting when their predictions are correct! #FunatFELS
Due to inclement weather, ALL FELS CENTERS, including our Central Administration Office, will be closed tomorrow, 2/18. We will provide an update regarding when our centers will be re-opening as conditions improve. Thank you and stay safe!
Sensory bottles are a great activity that teaches toddlers about different objects and the sounds that they make.
