Learning good technique details, consistent intense drilling, and scrimmaging are a superior use of time than traveling to a tourney for a handful of quality matches.

Olympic Medalist and 2x World Medalist J’den Cox. Great guy. I was hoping to see epic battle between him and Kyle Snyder at the Olympic Trials. Would have been dramatic like Jordan Burroughs and Kyle Dake.

Nic Bedelyon attended my Super Gold Camps annually and was in my local kids club. He is now the associate head coach at Rider and is only around age 30. Nic’s dedicated student, Jesse Dellavechia, also attended our Super Gold Camp and he was in the NCAA Finals this season. Both Nic and Jesse were skinny, undersized freshman who kept working hard to improve steadily over time. Both earned scholarships to mid-major DI schools and kept working to improve steadily, becoming NCAA All-Americans! Though the dream for many kids may be Penn State or Iowa, there are many great paths to success! Coach Nic Bedelyon is building at Rider! See more below.

2016 Olympian Frank Molinaro left his shoes on the mats and retired on Saturday. It was an exciting weekend watching many of our campers and Nittany Lions compete to live their dreams. David Taylor joined me, Frank, and Kerry McCoy as Penn State graduates who made our U.S. Olympic Team. David and Frank came to my camps starting at a young age and Kerry was a counselor when I coached him at Penn State.

Dan Gable was honored today at the White House, receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom for a lifetime of achievement and contributions to our society. Congratulations to Coach Gable and his proud family who you see in the background, as our president puts the medal around his neck. No matter what your politics are, this is a great day for our sport. It is a special honor for Coach Gable and a valuable recognition to our sport. Proud day for everyone in our wrestling co...mmunity. Dan Gable is our sport's #1 ambassador. Personally for me, Dan had a big impact on my life as a teen and consistently since. I remember studying his videos at wrestling camps as a teen and over the decades since. Very inspiring. He has helped develop some of our world's best wrestlers ever and some of our nation's best leaders. Even into his 70s Coach Gable still has a long-lasting impact on our sport, competitors, and coaches worldwide. See more

My life’s work includes promoting and growing our sport. Very proud of the amazing culture and large fan base developed at my alma mater. Been a unique year nationwide and worldwide, and continues to be a different type of season and year in 2021. Nevertheless less, we have to stay the course more than ever, working to build our sport in our communities daily one person at a time. Grass roots efforts are the key to success. No one you know is joining our sport or attending a dual meet unless you invite them and encourage them.

Scheduling pre-season clinics nationwide in November. Now that football season is winding down, it is time to hit the mats! Below is an example of one of my upcoming events. Sometimes I conduct clinics at schools and other times at private clubs. Club wrestling has grown steadily over the past decade. The Hawk Training Center recently moved from the school facility they used for over a decade into a private facility. Opening clubs in strip malls warehouses and fitness centers is a good and growing trend. If judo, Karate and other martial arts can meet needs of so many students in private facilities, absolutely our sport can too.

Much to study and perfect in this short video. On a personal note, congratulations to Andrew as well as all of his coaches for his great career and successful day at the national open. Andrew had a dominating prep career and is now one of the top college wrestlers in the nation.... One of Andrew Alirez personal coaches is a kid Is one of my friends, Jim Sanchez. I have enjoyed having Jim as a clinician at my Colorado camps. Andrew now wrestles for one of my most dedicated and successful campers ever, Troy Nickerson. Also transitioned a single leg finish to a 4 point gut when opponent tripoded 184 Strength and position over speed... 211 Trapped arm gut and multiple ankle laces HWT Impressive techniques and athleticism. Bright future. I knew this when he came out of redshirt as true freshman to defeat NCAA All-American. I omit names above to focus on technique rather than news. Congratulations to the Champions! Arujau, Alirez, Masa, Dean, Moore, Paris. Though future hall of famers and super heroes with nicknames like Magic Man, Kid Dynamite, Zain Train, and JB were not in action, it was a great weekend of wrestling to enjoy and study. I hope no one gets covid and Captain America's leg heals quickly.

The National Open Finals are live on Flo now. I studied the quarters and semis yesterday. There were some good matches. Some basic observations off the top of my head from yesterday include: It does not matter what style or skill level, finishing quickly with clean technique is critical to success. More times needs to be spent mastering Front Headlock offense and counter attacks. ... Re-shots are scoring often. Too much focus on push outs and not enough on scoring 2 and ideally 4 from feet. USA Wrestlers spend too little time on par terre offense and defense.
