Both University City manager/in house designer Fitz and former Keswick employee/incredible Philly artist Lauren Cat West have designed these masks, for sale now at our Glenside location. Not only do these masks look awesome, they’re also extremely comfortable and have adjustable ear straps. The masks are $10 each and all proceeds will be donated to the local food bank in Glenside, PA at the New Life Presbyterian Church. We encourage you to go above and beyond and donate to your local food bank to help those in need during these tough times. Former longtime Keswick Cycle employee and artist @laurencatwest painted a huge mural on our Glenside location! Lauren actually created this mural for @vans Checkerboard Day (which was on November 19, 2020). Van’s Checkerboard Day celebrates creativity and supports mental health - so they asked 11 different artists from across the country to create large colorful murals that reflected the artist’s ideas of wellness and creativity. Vans also donated over $1M to organizations t...hat support mental wellness, because they know creativity is good for your head. - - For Lauren, the immediate idea for creating something positive that expressed wellness was giant colorful bikes surrounded by giant colorful flowers. She needed a wall for the mural and the bike shop was the perfect canvas! (And of course Keswick Cycle owner, Brian Hackford was fully on-board. But only if Lauren included a worm on a skateboard) Lauren says, Making art, riding bicycles and being outside is how I recharge - mentally, physically and creatively. Cycling has always been my positive escape - it fuels my love of the outdoors while moving my brain around. Bikes make me smile, like, genuine BIG SMILES, no matter how bad my day can seem sometimes. While I worked at Keswick, Brian was always super supportive of my art, to the point where I became the graphic designer for the shop and created the new logo and brand. I’m so happy to have created something positive on a place that also meant so much to me early in my career. - - Find your creative passion and dive into it. For Lauren, it’s always been art and movement. I keep my brain in motion and just see where it goes.
