The SECRET SAUCE behind another seemingly FUN Kinder Karate exercise with my three and four year old class. When the music is on, they must MOVE, but have the SELF-CONTROL to stay on their X (spot). They cannot lose themselves in the movement so much that they lose FOCUS, and miss the moment the music stops. They have to be PATIENT for the music to stop to practice their kicks They must rely on MEMORY to remember how many kicks, and have the SELF-CONTROL to stay with... their classmates in counting. Because we strive to bring a sense of FAMILY and COMMUNITY to our Kinder Karate, Ninjability, Ninja Warrior and Kali schools, we hold several events throughout the year. This year, they all got cancelled, so we took the party outside with our 1st (ANNUAL) TRUNK OR TREAT!!!! **** A big THANK YOU to Rachel Moss and the Jefferson Hills Police for letting us take over their parking lot for a few hours. This goes along with our teaching philosophy of, "Tell them what you WANT, not what you DON'T want." In teaching, we are diligent to point out the examples of students giving the correct answer or technique. Naturally, the other kids will try to mimic this example, so they can receive the praise, too. There is no need to be CRITICAL, or to highlight someone for a MISTAKE. Parents, you can do this at home, too... don't assume that they know what you want, or what you mean, when you criticize. Tell them WHY, and give the example of what you want. Then be SURE to "catch" them giving you precisely what you just asked for!

Hey Kinder Karate Family! We are excited to announce that Kinder Karate and our Ninja & Kali Programs will be holding a TRUNK or TREAT this year, in place of our annual Halloween Bowling Party! It will be held at the Jefferson Hills Municipal Building - 925 Old Clairton Road, Jefferson Hills PA 15025 - On Saturday October 24th, From 3-4 pm. Prizes will be given for various costume catagories, and also for BEST decorated CAR! This trunk or treat is for students only, but students are welcome to bring siblings and guests. ***** PARENTS, in order to participate, you must ALSO give out candy from your car.

This is also a lesson that parents in my classes tend to learn about my teaching style. Especially in the youngest groups, sometimes a parent thinks that I'm not hard enough on them, or not demanding a level of perfection they think I should. When they learn that my teaching style is based on brain development (and throw in a healthy dose of trust), they begin to understand that the changes they are looking for take time to organize and "marinate," as I like to call it, in ...the brain. Children's brains learn to organize through imagination play, and getting too involved with perfecting details can disrupt this process. Letting kids have their OWN experience is key, not just the one parents think they SHOULD have. With all the isolation because of COVID, our kids are suffering... they NEED to be social, communing with others. Not today, COVID! My online students are KILLIN IT! This is 4 year old Emmett, completing his test for our belt promotion in my Kinder Karate online class. (And YES, we DO have in person classes, too).

Some people think that our training is only for kids... moms and dads also love to have fun and get in on the action! Way to go, Kelly!

THIS is what I'm most proud to keep providing, when everything else is being taken away from the kids -- a sense of ACCOMPLISHMENT, a sense of PRIDE, a sense of NORMALCY! Kinder Karate and Ninjability classes are OPEN and continue to serve our families through all the craziness! Way to go, Enzo, and all of our kids who have just received their new belts!

So excited to get back to our IN PERSON classes! We have been doing virtual classes since March, and this is just in time to do our belt promotions! Looking forward to seeing our KINDER KARATE, NINJABILITY, NINJA WARRIORS, and KALI students this week!
