Fun Fact Friday! Knoebel Lumber is unique to our 2x10's and 2x12's in White Fir SELECT structural grade. Lumber derivatives:... Hardwoods are derived from deciduous trees and include mahogany, oak. birch, and walnut. Softwoods come from evergreen conifer trees and include pine, cedar, fir, and spruce.

Fun Fact Friday! Today you all can enjoy a bit of Knoebel Lumber history! Pictured below is Hartman Henry Knoebel aka "Pete". He is the man responsible for growing the original lumbering/sawmill to a retail store which is known today as Knoebel Lumber, est. 1926. Lets not forget all the hard working Knoebel family members and employees who made it all possible throughout the generations. Some of those names include Rev. Russell Knoebel (purchaser of the land to which Knoebel Lumber resides), Henry Hartman Knoebel (founder), David Knoebel, and Blair Faust.

Transformation Tuesday! Our installed sales team tore out a window, rebuilt the wall, put up new drywall, spackle, paint, and matched the outside siding. After configuring necessary heat and air options, we replaced the open area with a beautiful new propane fireplace and Fujitsu split unit, complete with a flat screen TV to create a cozy den for our happy customer!

Transformation Tuesday! Phoenix Rehabilitation and Health Services in Bloomsburg has been renovated! Our Installed Sales team tore out a wall to open up space for more equipment, put up new drywall, spackled, painted, and reconfigured the lighting. Great job!

MEET the team MONDAY! Joe Quintanilla is our newly promoted Shipping/Receiving Coordinator here at Knoebel Lumber. He has been employed with us for 2 years where he started as a Yard Associate and worked his way to his current position. Joe is in charge of assisting customers and fellow team members with product questions and material loading, safely unloading tractor trailers, box vans and flatbed trailers. Inspecting all incoming freight for damage, shortage and back-ordere...d items, organizing and tagging special order material for customer pickup and working closely with department managers to inform of incoming/outgoing freight. Joe is cooperative, friendly and respectful which reticulates with our team success within the lumberyard and contributes to the prosperity of the company as a whole. Joe enjoys boxing and biking in his free time and his favorite food is beef jerky.

TIPS FOR PREVENTING FROZEN PIPES! 1. Let your cold water on throughout the night to trickle through your pipes. 2. Keep your thermostat set at 2 degrees above your normal setting both day and night while temperatures are significantly below freezing.... 3. Open cabinet doors under sinks to let warm air flow around the supply lines. 4. Disconnect all hoses from exterior faucets to prevent water from freezing in the hose and rupturing the faucet. 5. Close exterior faucets at the cut-off and drain all faucets. If they don't drain, insulate them with foam faucet covers. 6. Use heat tape for any pipes in problem areas. 7. Close all venting in foundation. 8. Make sure your basement windows are closed tight and are not letting substantial cold air flow into your basement.

MEET the team MONDAY! Kevin Tombasco is our new Yard Foreman here at Knoebel Lumber. He has been employed with us for a few months however brings prior managerial experience which attributes to his daily job duties. Kevin is responsible for all the activity that takes place in our yard such as loading and unloading freight, delivery coordination and overseeing Yard Associates. He is to insure productivity and safety among coworkers and communicate/coordinate as a team in orde...r to provide a smooth, efficient shopping experience for our customers. Most times Kevin's job requires physical labor and positive customer interaction. Kevin's easy going, adaptable personality traits contribute to the growth of the ever-changing yard here at Knoebel Lumber. Kevin enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He is a firefighter and has multiple certifications in both structural and wildland firefighting, truck company roof operations, and state certified HAZMAT operations.

Transformation Tuesday! Here is a full tear out and installation of exterior doors throughout our customer's home. This fantastic job was once again completed by our superb installed sales team.

MEET the team MONDAY! Daren Brophy is our CDL/Boom Truck Operator here at Knoebel Lumber. Daren has been employed with us for 13 years where he loads customers with materials and delivers it when and where the customer prefers. Daren's main expertise is the delivery of materials needed with our boom truck, such as drywall services to a second story, shingles onto your roof or a full house package. Daren's cautious work ethic presents as a tool during boom truck operation. His hardworking, self motivated efforts are valuable to the success of the Knoebel Lumber team. Daren enjoys camping in his free time.

MEET the team MONDAY! Rick Dobeck is our CDL Delivery Driver here at Knoebel Lumber where he has been employed with us for almost 2 years. Ricks job duties include loading materials ordered by our customers and delivering the orders as requested. Rick takes pride in getting his deliveries where they need to be in an efficient and timely manner. Ricks relaxed, tolerant personality helps to deal with everyday, on the job obstacles that he may face while providing favorable customer service. Rick also helps as a yard associate at times and is cooperative and willing when asked to do anything outside the realm of his specific job duties. Rick enjoys car shows, riding ATVs, and working on his house in his free time.

MEET the team MONDAY! Paul Katchick is our Sales Representative here at Knoebel Lumber. He has been employed with us for 16 years where he utilizes his many years of product and building experiences which help steer our customers in the right direction to meet their needs in a timely, methodical manner. You can find Paul at our front counter multitasking by answering phones, taking special orders/deliveries and helping customers figure out their needs. He also helps to provide suggestions for those who may be unsure of what they need or what their best, most cost efficient options might be when completing a job. Paul's attentive, outgoing and patient characteristics serve as a tool in relating with customers on a daily basis. Paul enjoys taking care of his family, fishing in his spare time, and cooking goodies to bring to work.

MEET the team MONDAY! Kelly Jones is one of our newest members of the Knoebel Team. She assumed a part-time position as the Accounts Receivable Manager, but quickly expanded her role to a full-time position which then included the responsibility of developing and growing our social media footprint in a very interactive manner. Even though Kelly has been with us less than a year, she brings over 10 years’ experience in the building material retail industry. In her time here,... she has added her creativity to our website, took control of our installed sales portfolio and has rapidly taken our Facebook page to the next level. Her friendly, positive and professional attitude makes customers feel appreciated. You may also find her at the sales counter assisting customers both in the store and on the phone. She is a self-motivated individual who enjoys undertaking and completing projects and new endeavors. Kelly’s hobbies include coaching basketball, physical fitness, reading and spending time with her family.

MEET the team MONDAY! Dave Mowery is currently our Sales Representative here at Knoebel Lumber where he has been employed with us since 1950. Yes! That's a dedicated 68 years of customer service and counting! He began working in the lumberyard helping customers and in the amusement park operating rides when he was in high school. Dave says, "In those days, you worked both places and you ran the rides in the park when you weren't busy at the lumberyard. Haddy would ring a bel...l that hung in a big tree (by her home, which is now the White House), you would hear the bell, come from the park and help the customer". Dave left the lumberyard for a short period between the years of 1957-1959 where he served in the United States Army and was drafted to Germany during that time. Dave returned from Germany in 1959 and has worked for Knoebel Lumber ever since. Dave has had many duties over the years but his primary function was the brokering of lumber to attain the highest quality at the best price for our customers. He has built and established rapport with customers, coworkers, and fellow sales representatives. Dave's presence has been a staple for our customer base, lumberyard and park for many years along with his late son, Richard Mowery. His (their) knowledge, dedication, and work ethic have greatly contributed to the sustainability and success of the lumberyard. Dave enjoys hunting in his free time.

MEET the team MONDAY! Terry Levan is our Carpenter here at Knoebel Lumber. He has been employed with us for 5 years. Terry works on our Installed Sales Team which is a team that provides the construction/carpentry aspect of home improvement through Knoebel Lumber. Terry comes from a family background of Carpentry which he learned from his father since the age of 16. He also completed four years of general shop courses and metal work at Southern Columbia where he has been util...izing these skills for approximately 30 years. His organizational skills and precise craftsmanship while working is essential to completing timely tasks and providing superlative customer service. His exceptional work ethic and perseverance are a direct reflection of his finished product and positive customer feedback. In his free time he enjoys live entertainment at area casinos, playing football with his grand kids, and riding his motorcycle. Terry is also in the Guinness Book of World Records for nonstop 24 hour backward skating to support Muscular Dystrophy.
