Today is Giving Tuesday! The Lake Shore Railway Museum runs on donations. Please consider making a donation or becoming a member today! All donations will help keep the museum running for generations to come!
At this time, the Lake Shore Railway Museum will remain closed until further notice. Our recycling center remains open from 9am until noon on Saturdays to collect metals and newspapers. There is limited access to the platform during daylight hours to observe passing trains. All regulations and guidelines must be followed when on the property - masks are required and a 6 foot social distancing rule is in place. Please visit https://lakeshorerailway.com to check out our online gift shop and information pages. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. Thank you, and stay safe.
It's beginning to look like a winter wonderland! We are Virtual Railfan's Cam of the Week this week! Check out the sights and sounds from the museum from the warmth of your home! The snow may still be falling, but the trains still keep rolling!
The conclusion of North East Fire Department's annual Cherry Festival is traditonally a parade down Main Street that rivals any other in Erie County. --- This year though with pandemic issues forefront in everyone's mind, the Parade came to the front porches of the community!! The North East Fire Department--Crescent and Fuller Hose Companies-- brought the parade to everyone's front door by touring nearly every street in town beginning at 2pm on Saturday. Here is a short vid clip of the begining of the parade as it passed the Lake Shore Rwy Museum. Our Locomotive #1950 returned the horn salute to every vehicle!
We are Virtual Railfan's Cam of the Week once again! Follow the link to YouTube where you can watch the rail traffic go past the museum all week long! A big thanks to Virtual Railfan for bringing us back to YouTube for the week!
Today's #ThrowbackThursday takes us to the North East Wine Fest in 2009! Take a look in the background, where you can see our Atlas dock shunt! Today, CSSSB #802 "Little Joe" would be blocking the view!
As the sun sets today, we wanted to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us on Erie Gives Day 2020! Your contributions will help us to continue bringing smiles to the faces of railfans everywhere, young and old! It's not too late to help out! The Erie Gives window is open until 8pm tonight - just a short time from now! Please consider a donation if the museum has ever brought a smile to the face of someone you know! We need your help to keep those smiles coming! Please visit the link below! https://www.eriegives.org//lake-shore-railway-historical-s
It's #ThrowbackThursday! Today we go back to August 1981 for more track work! This track being built currently houses our CB&Q Baggage Car, but originally held our first dining car! Currently, this track has been disconnected and turned into a panel track just for the baggage car. Check out the signal tower in the background - today it is in the air watching over the East end of the property!
