As my grandfather loves to say, that’s the price you pay when you play. I fell off my long board and gave myself a type 3 ac joint separation. The last few weeks have been super painful, but it’s been a good experience. Seeing these things as negative is a choice. Life is all opportunities. I’ve had the opportunity to receive love and guidance from people who care about me. It’s been a long time since I’ve been this motivated to get stronger and better. 5 more weeks in this damn sling, then I can start killing it in rehab. I want to be stronger and better at Capoeira at the end of this year than I was at the beginning. Stay strong people! Love is the answer.

Everyone: Capoeira classes are suspended for now. Most of you know my wife Millie is a nurse at UPMC Lititz. This puts us at a high risk of getting this bug when it comes around. Out of an abundance of caution, we’re going keep our distance. Payments are suspended while we are closed. Please fill out the forms you got this week. Cool bit of Capoeira history...about the introduction of Capoeira in US...I want to learn more!

The link to the registration form for Lancaster Capoeira's 2020 Spring session just went out. If you feel you missed this email list in error, please let me know! I'm VERY much looking forward to training with everyone!!!

Alright everyone, classes will start February 3rd, and registration is open! Classes will be held Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 7-8pm at Citiline Studio of Dance on Elizabeth Ave. Additional Saturdays will be planned for rodas and/or guest teachers. This session will run from 2/3 to 6/29. Please direct message, text, or email me at [email protected] to express your interest! I'll respond with full details and instructions for signing up for auto-pay when the time ...comes. I need to meet a 10 person threshold to commit to this session. Session membership (with 1 class a week) is just $50 a month! Additional classes are at the drop-in rate of $15 per class. Must be a member to drop-in, unless it's your first class, you're from out of town, or you make other arrangements with me! Unlimited membership for all classes is $100/month. This program is about the community and teaching people who really want to learn capoeira. If you have any monetary concerns, please reach out to me. We'll see if accommodations can be made.

Here's a quick update on capoeira classes for the new year. I'm going to be making some changes moving forward. I'm waiting on schedule availability at Citiline, but here is what I can tell everyone so far: -Classes will be offered on a membership model. Membership requires a 6-month contract and monthly payments will be auto-payed through a 3rd party. This will likely be a $75 monthly fee that covers 1 class per week. Additional classes can be paid by drop-in rate or by sign...ing up for a monthly membership that includes all class offerings (exceptions made for out-of-town visitors and there will be a family package as well). I'm hoping to offer 3 classes a week. -The class period will be contingent on commitment from students. I will have a registration period. We will need to meet a minimum number of students to move forward with the period. As a rough idea, classes are dependent on 10 people signing up for a 5 month membership. If we don't meet that threshold, we won't have regular classes. -I won't be offering regular classes on the weekend. We might do a monthly roda on a Sunday or Saturday (included in membership), but weekly weekend classes are off. -Batizados/chords will again be contingent on commitment from students. Enough students will need to quality and commit to a batizado within a registration period for us to organize the event. For a student to be eligible for a chord, you must complete 2 consecutive periods. Belt requirements are based off Cai Na Capoeira's system. Please feel free to offer feedback. I welcome it! I don't know when the official start date of the first period will be, but I would like to start getting those interested to signed up. If there is too little interest, then I'll know I don't need to put any more effort into organizing. Thanks everyone!
