Hakel, Lebanon, has a very intense Cretaceous Age quarry which hosts 100 million year old pelagic fossil fish and other life forms. Prized among the specimens are the viper fish, fanged predator fish that preyed on anything that moved. Collecting is still done on an ongoing basis.

Thousands of available specimens are waiting for visitors. 607 Willow Street, Adamstown PA...from Lancaster County PA...up Route 222 to Adamstown exit...One mile to light at Willow Street... Take a left. Short distance to split in road. Continue on Willow Street. Shupp's Grove is on left about one mile. Free to attend!

Lancaster County Fossil and Mineral Club 04.08.2020

One of the very few mineral and fossil shows to be held during the 2020 year takes place at Shupp's Grove in Adamstown PA just off route 222 south of Reading PA. Both Saturday and Sunday August 22 and 23. No gate fee. Many of our club members will be vendors there. It's in a spacious wooded Grove with vendors very spread out. Food and bathrooms are available. Both days opens at 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Use Google to locate and direct you. Come and have a rocking time!

The largest complete fossilized trees have been found in southeast Asia and are almost one million years old. One measured 240 feet in length, which, in terms of a living tree would have been about 330 feet tall; about the size of a redwood. These trees were once part of a tropical forest that thrived then died out in northern Thailand.
