Next year, the Leprechauns Sports Association is celebrating 60 years of being a part of Port Richmond! We are looking to expand our board of directors with committed members of the community to ensure another great 60 years. We will be having elections in December 2020. Parents and Players, After careful consideration and a lot of back and forth on the matter of the 2020 Football season, we regret to inform you that we will not be continuing ahead this year. There was a lot to consider concerning Covid-19 policies and procedures, NESACS ability to provide games and locations as well as the safety of the entire leprechaun’s family. The following information was considered in our decision.... Home Games All located outside of the city limits Philadelphia’s mandate for capacity on the fields Transportation to and from location of games Proper practicing protocols to include heads up tackling Non-refundable payment option Mandatory quarantine procedures Multi team families NESAC’s responses to game policies Ability for family members to spectate the games Game procedures and safety of the children Other organizations policies and procedures Referee availability and willingness to come to games Above all else, our decision came down to the safety of our players and our ability to properly prepare them to play football this year. With the conditions and regulations necessary to have a season at all while maintaining necessary COVID guidelines, the coaches did not feel that it allows for the necessary practices that keep our kids safe and healthy on the field in addition to preventing the spread of COVID. As we always say, the safety of our kids is our top priority, and we do not think we can have a season that meets our standards of preparation, practice, and play. This was a very painful and difficult decision for all of us to make. We look forward to football and spending time with our Leprechauns family as much as the players. While the Leprechauns Sports Association will be closing its doors this season we do encourage seeking out other options and would love to have all the children active in some shape or form. With that being said, the head coaches of the teams have agreed to host a form of fall training for all currently registered players while following the Leprechauns COVID-19 policies as well as cleaning and disinfecting procedures. Below is a list of the Head coaches that will be reaching out to discuss their individual plans. With the state of Pennsylvania opening up and moving into the "Phase Green" shortly we are expecting to hit the ground running with football training and practices. While we do not have any additional information concerning start dates, times, or schedules we would like everyone to register their athletes through our online portal. Registering now will allow the organization to get a head of all the paperwork and allow for updates and increase communication between the organi...zation, coaches, players, and the parents. Again we are asking that if you and your athlete plan on participating in the 2020 Football Season please register them as soon as possible.
