Being a bakery manager, Abigail Tellish-Neuman knows that not everyone can afford to purchase a store-bought birthday cake to celebrate their loved ones. So Abigail decided to make a difference by building and donating these awesome birthday cake kits to distribute through our LFP! Each kit contains a disposable pan with cake mix, frosting, oil, candles, some birthday decor and a sweet teddy-bear! Thank you, Abigail, for this truly thoughtful mission!!!! <3

Many people ask when we are open. The little free pantry is open and available 24/7. The pantry is in the courtyard of House of Prayer Lutheran Church, the little free fridge is on the porch. When things are out are dependent on when we get them. It is mostly random and unpredictable. When we get food , we put it out, either in the little free fridge, in the little free Pantry or on the porches of House of Prayer. We place it outside and it is basically on a first-come first-serve basis. There is never a guarantee of what will be there when anyone comes. We do have a free dinner meal called Manna Community Meal every Tuesday at House of Prayer from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. The meal is currently on a takeout basis. All are welcome!

It was a blustery, snowy, Western Pennsylvania February evening, but that didn't stop our community from showing up!!! These are the faces and places of kindne...ss that served over 171 in need last evening at Manna Community Meal!! A big thank you to: - Our dear friends at Clearview Federal Credit Union and Beaver Valley South Rotary Club who teamed up with the Manna chefs to provide a yummy pasta dinner!! We so appreciate your commitment to kindness in our community!! <3 - Everybody's favorite do-gooders, Jim and Peg Bishop, for delivering all of the Farmers to Families Food Boxes donated by World Vision Pittsburgh that were distributed to each car last night! So grateful for all of you!! - Our cash donors who enable us to purchase the yummy Brunton Dairy milk lovingly delivered by Ed each week! Who doesn't love Brunton's milk??? - Our awesome friends and the wonderful volunteers of 412 Food Rescue for all of the baked goods and bread that we distributed! You are a gift to our community!! - Sweet Judy Barilaro for always brightening everyone's day with her goody bags!!! You are a gem! - Our faithful weekly volunteers - NOTHING stops this group from giving, helping and being kind!!! From those who cook to those who package and lift and shovel and clean - it truly takes a village and we've got a great one! <3 - Our guests, for braving the cold and snow to share your smiles with us each week. We appreciate you!!! Up next week: The amazing families of "The Village" will pull together to serve up a yummy pulled pork sandwich meal with cheesy potatoes, green beans and cookies! Be there or be square! See more

Our awesome kids from the school program filled the LFP twice during breaks today! It's wonderful to hear their thought processes about deciding what to stock and even where to put it in the LFP. They are very thoughtful and they even got to witness someone stopping by to "take what they needed"!

The LFP Garden might be buried under 5 inches of snow right now, but we are envisioning brighter and warmer days ahead enthusiastically!!! A HUGE "thank you" to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Baden for the very generous grant from the Sister St. Mark Garden fund which will enable us to purchase a storage shed to safely and securely house our rain barrels and other garden tools and equipment this coming season! As you may have seen when you've passed by recently, we have 4 new raised garden beds in addition to the existing garden, so it's about to GET REAL at House of Prayer Lutheran Church!!! Lots of work to be done and we couldn't be more excited!!! If you would like to help us be a part of that work, please reach out to LFP gardener Terry Goodwald!!! <3

Some of the great kids from the Aliquippa Elementary School program at House of Prayer Lutheran Church took some time on a break from classwork today to learn about and stock our Little Free Pantry! They put a lot of thought into choosing items from the stock room that they felt someone in need would be glad to find. They are great kids with big hearts and we are very proud of them!!
