Lincoln Park is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of African American artists in the performing arts. Pittsburgh’s own August Wilson wrote a play about the African American experience in each decade of the 20th century. All but one are set in Pittsburgh’s Hill District and nine out of 10 of them have been produced on Broadway, including Fences, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and The Piano Lesson. #BlackHistoryMonth To learn more about August Wilson and his contributions to the arts: https://americantheatrewing.org/legends/august-wilson/

With the new restrictions in place heading in to the next few weeks of the holidays, it’s more important than ever that as we wrap up this tumultuous year, we find ways to not only find joy and hope, but that we shop local and support our small businesses. It’s also necessary that we keep the arts alive and in our homes. During these weary days, gathering in our homes with our family members can still provide us with bright spots. Look for more details over the next few days as we share offerings from the great small businesses included in this article and bring to life the holiday classic It’s A Wonderful Life in a new, old-fashioned way.
