Why It's OK to Forgive Yourself after Offending God, Yourself and Others. 1 John 3:20 "If our hearts condemn us God is greater than our hearts ... and God knows everything."
Fiery Trials, Doubts and Disappointment.
Final Sermon in the Lord's Prayer Series. What the Doxology often used to close the prayer says to us.
First - Forewarned! My iPhone twice fell from the tripod during the recording of this service. The message is about forgiveness - our own and that we are to give others. But how can forgiving (giving up our right to "get even") be fair or helpful in life? The answer: forgiving others breaks the cycle of endless retribution and sets US free from unfair pain in the past.
"Give us this day our daily bread," turns out to be another radical prayer to pray. There's nothing UNspirittual about asking God for the material things we need to keep body and soul together. But this prayer discilines our unruly desires at the same time it shortens our worry list. We pray only for enough to eat TODAY. And we pray in the plural, acknowledging every one's elses need for daily provision as well. In praying for "OUR" daily bread, we are suddenly aware that we ourselves may be the answer to someone else's prayer for bread. If we typically have enough and then some, this prayer becomes a remninder that we must do our part to see that our "neighbor" has bread for the day as well.
