Lycoming Law Association 04.05.2021

Every year the Lycoming Law Association Foundation (LLAF) receives a substantial sum of money from county attorneys who have chosen to donate their arbitration fees to the LLAF. The LLAF then uses these funds to make a sizable annual donation to North Penn Legal Services (NPLS) to be used for the benefit of indigent residents of Lycoming County. Donations generated in 2020 allowed the LLAF to grant $7,320 to NPLS! The LLAF was represented by its President, Hon. William Ski...p Arbuckle, LLAF Trustee Corey Mowrey and Executive Director Michele Frey. Top arbitration donors, Tricia Shipman, John Pietrovito and Marc Drier were also present. Jen Heverly accepted the donation on behalf of NPLS. Photo (left to right): Corey Mowrey, Skip Arbuckle, John Pietrovito, Trisha Shipman, Michele Frey, Jen Heverly and Marc Drier.

The LLA Members have a strong commitment to the community. Despite demanding careers, the LLA Members always make time to volunteer during the annual high school mock trial competitions.

March is Women’s History Month! It is important to remember the struggles and accomplishments of women. Lycoming County’s legal community has a long history of trailblazing women. Louise Chatham, our county’s first woman attorney, opened her law practice in Williamsport in 1924. You can read more about Attorney Chatham here: https://www.lycolaw.org/latest-n/news/articles/2016/chatham Today, women play key leadership roles in the Lycoming Law Association and the Pennsylva...nia Judiciary. The Honorable Nancy L. Butts is among the thirteen women currently serving as president judge in the Courts of Common Pleas. Judge Butts, elected in 1995, is the first woman in Lycoming County to become a county judge. She was joined on the bench by the Honorable Joy Reynolds McCoy in 2010.
