We did a colormelt with Wella Colortouch equal parts 5/73 & 4/0 and gentle emulsion. Handpainted some pieces with Freelights & 30 volume. I toned the whole head with Redken shades 10VV for 5 minutes. GRATEFUL With all the changes happening in my world and on the planet, we can easily fall into fear & anxiety. I’d like to take a moment to shift my focus into gratitude and say what I am grateful for. Because I have so much to reflect on in my life.... My brother has survived an open skull brain surgery. There was a time I wasn’t sure if he would still be present. And he is here. Thank you Jesus. My father had a triple bypass in June. I wasn’t able to go see him in the hospital due to Covid restrictions. He is doing great. I am working at a salon where I got my creative upbringing after 10 years of being apart from them. I feel like it’s my second family. So much love and happiness. I have a second career in spiritual coaching which is flourishing. I not only get to make people feel beautiful, I help people align with their true souls purpose. This year has been a year of massive growth, expansion and monumental internal self reflection and I know that we, as a collective human race are only getting more Unified. Put your cell phone away. ... I know, I know... you are all gonna kill me over this one. With social media being a big tool for growing our business. That’s fine. Use it for the consultation, take pictures afterwards. But during the service, and while your client is processing, put the phone away. Save this time for your client. , for ZERO distractions so you can 100% focus on them for number 2 2. ENGAGE with your client. This is all about connecting with who your client is and what they need. Get to know your clients. They will appreciate you SO much more for taking the extra time to show them the extra love. 3. Every once in a while throw them a free gift. Being Triggered @the.hair.shaman We live in a cancel culture where it’s normal to not communicate how we feel.... We turn off our phones if we see something we don’t like. We swipe right or left when choosing a partner. We have been so conditioned to NOT feel. Which is the true pandemic. Now more than ever we need connection. Connection to ourselves & connection to each other. Feeling into our own internal navigation system. Our bodies will always let us know WHY we feel those gut reactions when we become triggered by someone. And it’s never about the other person. If we take the time to breathe deeply into the areas in our bodies that are having a response to that person, and ask ourselves WHAT we are feeling and WHY, we will get to the core of the emotion. More than likely there is sadness or fear behind the initial response. Here is a suggestion you can use when feeling triggered by someone: 1: Take some time to sit with yourself and breathe into the area of your body where you feel the energy is coming in. When we are being triggered it’s usually our stomach or the sides of our gut. (Solar plexus) 2. Take long slow inhales and exhales and ask yourself what is this emotion? Where did this come from? 3. Place your hands on the area that is being effected. Tune into these feelings and ask yourself are these emotions mine? Or do they belong to someone else? How long have I been feeling this? 4. If you could, what does the emotion look like? Does it have a shape? A color ? Are you able to move it out of your body and form it into your hands in front of you into a lighter shaped ball? In 1999 I began my career as a hairstylist. I was 23, alcohol dependent and had ZERO vision for my future. 2003 I got sober and never felt like i fit in the AA program. I got the house, the boyfriend, all the things you’re supposed to do in life. But it didn’t work. I wasn’t doing what i was really supposed to be doing. Fast forward to 2010.... My life drastically shifted. Still without a clear vision or purpose, I somehow felt connected to the Universe and how it was guiding me. I trusted my intuition and had a deep hunger for wanting to better myself. I dove into energy healing, meditation, courses and connecting to my soul. Here I am another 10 years later. 2020. A lot of personal experiences and courses under my belt. I have never given up on myself. It’s our life experiences that make us into who we are. That give us valuable lessons and make us relatable to the world. I have made many mistakes along the way. I have felt regret, loss, heartbreak, and I stand here with the power of of my voice. And the world needs humans who have struggled and stood back up and said I have fought the fight and I’m still standing. If you have a dream, you’re worth it. How many times have you quoted your clients a price and then added on a service WITHOUT telling them? @the.hair.shaman Then their bill was higher then you quoted? Many times the clients won’t say anything. Maybe because they are embarrassed. Or they love their hair and their relationship with you. ... But if we as a stylist, and a honest human being are going to be in FULL integrity with our clients, we need to communicate before the application of the service and the price goes up. OR we can offer the service free of charge and let them know we did this as a courtesy this one time. But next time, they will need to pay. They will appreciate your honesty. Because maybe it was only in their budget what you quoted. And that extra $30 for the toner was for your tip and you are saving them the embarrassment of not having enough money. Who struggles with charging clients ? I have. Ok here is the deal. If you are like me, in the beginning of my career I NEVER wanted to tell my clients how much the price was going to be. Like EVER. Well guess what, it’s a skill that comes with practice just like cutting hair and applying color. And the more you get comfortable with letting your clients know how much your service is going to be, the easier it will be to let those numbers roll off your tongue. And ya know w...hat else? You are worth every penny you are charging them. So stop thinking you have to sit in the back seat only charging so much or take discounts because nobody is walking in the door. Clients WANT to pay for the service you are providing. And if you think you don’t deserve the price you are charging, then your chair will always be empty. As a culture we have been conditioned to believe that we need to work harder, not smarter. It is the law of attraction that says our mindset (thoughts) create our reality. If you want to bring in clients, be mindful of your thoughts around your job, your co workers, your clients and your money.
