Average Woman Walks More Than 40,000 Miles By Age 50 Women walk many steps in a lifetime. A new study commissioned by shoe retailer Hotter looked at 1,000 women ages 50 and up, and found they typically take 51,330 steps (about 24 miles), over the average week. This equates to over 2.6 million steps a year, or 1,263 miles walked, between the ages of 18 and 50. They crunched numbers and say the average woman walks more than 40,000 miles by age 50. In the poll, 30 percent of women said they spend more time on their feet than they realize, and more than half noted their confidence had grown with their age.
