Manor Of Hope 11.12.2020

A quick note from Manor of Hope’s Culinary Director, Andrew Deery... Bright sun and mild temperatures gave us the opportunity to burn off some Thanksgiving calories and enjoy the outdoors this past week. At the Manor of Hope, we encourage mental stimulation and physical exercise for our residents and find creative and fun ways to do it. After a full-blown Thanksgiving feast that couldn’t be beaten, we took a small group of men to the Schuylkill River and Canal for kayaking. ... We are happy to report that, despite having a few first-timers and a few close calls, no one tipped into the water and a good time was had by all! Taking full advantage of the good weather, we later hiked Mount Misery in Valley Forge Park. The hiking trails challenge us physically, and at the same time, provide us with a tranquil setting to reflect. We are fortunate to have such a precious national park in our back yard, and often make good use of its many resources. As I look back on the past year with the Manor of Hope, I am proud to have joined the staff and lend my efforts to its mission. My time spent has been productive, and the relationships I have made are invaluable. I have witnessed the strength and support that our community provides, and am honored to help in every way I can. A message from Andrew Deery, Culinary Director and everyone involved at the Manor of Hope: We pause today to give thanks for the many blessings we are afforded. As we all lead such busy lives, we often get caught up in the things we want, and overlook the things we already have. it can be difficult to slow down and take time to show gratitude. We are thankful for our good health. We take care to nourish our minds and bodies, to keep strong and focused as we move through o...ur lives. We are thankful for our families. Unconditional love and support from parents, siblings and relatives provide us with strength, confidence and courage to continue moving forward. We are thankful for our friendships. Through thick and thin, friendships allow us to share good times and endure difficult times, and keep us grounded. We are thankful for our place we call home. A warm bed, a place to feel comfortable and at ease, and let go of the stresses of everyday life and engage in self-care. We are thankful for the food that we receive. We do not go hungry, but appreciate the bounty of food we receive, and show appreciation for its sources. We show thanks and gratitude for all that we have today, and wish that the thanksgiving spirit continue to shine throughout our lives every day!
