A special Art at BTI edition of Breaking Ground. Dead Plant Wisdom: Exploring identity, colonialism and climate change through art and herbaria. In conversation with Zachari Logan and Fay-Wei Li... Thursday June 24 12:00-1:30pm Free Art at BTI will be held virtually again this year! Please join us for a special Art at BTI edition of Breaking Ground. Special guest Zachari Logan, a Canadian artist inspired in part by the botanical preservations and drawings of Mary Delany, creates large-scale drawings and ceramic works exploring themes of self-discovery, identity, memory and place. BTI’s Fay-Wei Li will discuss his experiences working with herbaria collections of preserved plant specimens as well as their history and how these repositories can be used to document climate change, track pathogens, and even identify new species. Art and Science come together as we engage around historic herbaria and how they’ve inspired contemporary art and research.
