GIVEAWAY TIME! ...Celebration Good Times, Come On... The Mauch Chunk Opera House commemorative "comeback" tee shirt is available now. Sizes S-2XL $20. Leave a message in 'comments' and we'll connect with you. Quantities are limited. It's a one run, very special sentiments design that'll be immediately retired when sold out. To CELEBRATE, we're giving away TWO and TWO, tickets and tees to the first person who correctly lists (in comment) every single artist, in exact order as... on the shirt (without googling, without peeking anywhere for the phantom of the opera, is all-knowing). So "Come on" all of you melophiles, "We're gonna have a good time tonight!"
Looking forward to a real good time this Friday (May 14) night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GX-ymmaZpY
We are going to reopen at the 50% capacity mandated by the state on Friday, March 12 at 8 PM with Celtic band, The Kilmaine Saints. We will also present a show on Saturday, March 13 with AM Radio Tribute Band, also at 8 PM. Our requirements are that masks be worn at all times when you're in the building, except of course if you are consuming food or drink. Also, we simply ask that you respect others and maintain a distance of six feet from them. Order tickets at Soundcheck Records in downtown JT, or online at our website www.mcohjt.com.
Kick, The INXS Experience, performs at the Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe, PA with the excellent Foreigner tribute band, Double Vision on April 28, 2018:
One of our favorite tribute acts has been Kick, the INXS Experience because of their musicality and the sheer energy they bring to a performance. These tunes are from July 2016, the first time they performed on our stage.
The Canadian group, Dala, has performed here several times, partly because their sound is especially excellent in the Opera House. Reminiscent of more well-known groups like the Indigo Girls, Dala brings a folk sound all their own:
Here was singer-songwriter, Ben Taylor, perforning on our stage on july 6, 2013:
This video is of the PA band, Cabinet, stepping out from behind microphones and electronics, to perform an encore on March 7, 2014 totally acoustically:
These tunes, recorded on February 9 & 10, 2018 include an original from Tusk, who have always excelled as a band, no matter what they perform:
By 2016, when this video was recorded< Tusk had become one of our most anticipated shows, a true marquee attraction:
We are compelled to spend some time with Tusk, the talented tribute to Fleetwood Mac. They have long played an important role in our development as a music venue and these tunes reprent their debut performance with us back in February 2010:
Green River, a tribute to CCR, has performed at the Opera House three times, including May 11, 2018, the date of this video:
Here's band that could sure play: The Hackensaw Boys. Here are a few tunes from their shows in 2015 and 2016, with Free Range Folk and The Blind Owl Band ably providing support:
It's not like you get to see Radiohead that often ...:
One of the more memorable moments at the Opera House came when the artist, Aimee Mann, appeared here on April 27, 2013:
Both Gilbert Gottfried (9-20) and Jackie the Jokeman (11-29) left us laughing in the fall of 2019. The winner of 2 tickets for a 2021 concert TBD is..... Lisa Davis Danowsky! Stay tuned for more fun to come. Leave a note in comments for merchandise and we'll contact you. Congratulations Lisa!

We all need to be reminded that we’re not alone. Join Jeff for some music and storytelling and laughter, all from your own front-row seat. After the live-streamed show, stick around for a short Q&A to close. From Jeff Daniels: In 1976, I bought a Guild D-40 from Herb David’s Guitar Studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan, threw it in the back of my old Buick, and moved to New York City. That guitar led me to a creative outlet, became a solace, my church, a road into the artist I didn’t know existed. I put every song I ever wrote into a big, black notebook. I will be dead in the ground before anyone sees or hears those attempts. And yet, like Lewis & Clark, I found my way to my version of the Pacific. Been on that beach ever since.
