McClure-West Beaver Township Community Chest Fund are now soliciting funds to help our eight local organizations. The drive will run from October 1st through November 2, 2020. The McClure Fire Company and the Bannerville Fire Company, who are available when they are needed, the Quick Response Services, McClure and Bannerville, who are there for us in medical emergency, the McClure Library, where adults and children have access to literary programs on all levels, the West Bea...ver Veterans Memorial Pool in McClure, that is FREE to everyone during the summer months, the local Girl and Boy Scouts, and the McClure Little League, who are helping our children to become better citizens. These organizations are run by local volunteers, and the monies collected from the McClure-West Beaver Community Chest Fund, help sustain them. Now, more than ever, they need our support. In 2001, our Nation, united under God, made an unbreakable promise never to forget the nearly 3,000 innocent Americans who were senselessly killed on September ...11. On this sacred day Patriot Day we solemnly honor that commitment. As the bells toll, we call by name those who perished in the terrorist attacks in New York, New York; Arlington, Virginia; and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. In cities and towns across our great country, we stand in solidarity to remember the victims and mourn their stolen hopes and dreams. On a day that began as ordinary as any other, terrorists carrying out a sadistic plan murdered thousands of our fellow compatriots. With shock and disbelief, we watched our first responders, encumbered by heavy equipment and hindered by debris and smoke, rush with conviction and courage into the void to rescue those in despair. With pride and sorrow, we felt the tremendous bravery of those aboard Flight 93, who summoned the courage to charge the terrorists in a counterattack that saved countless American lives. As the day closed, America steadied its resolve to hold accountable those who had attacked us and to ensure it would never happen again. I’m really late with posting this. There will be a Roast Beef dinner tomorrow at the firehall. TAKE OUT ONLY. The meal will consist of roast beef, filling, mash...ed potatoes, gravy, 2 vegatables and assorted desserts. It will be served from 11AM-1PM and the price is $9.00. Note: Last month was a little chaotic as it was our first take out only meal. We were not prepared as we had never had that experience before. This month we are better prepared. We learned a lot and had some helpful comments from our supporters. We thank all of you for being patient with us. We hope you give us all another chance

Not in our Borough but very close. New business coming to our area between McClure and Beaver Springs in the village of Raub's Mills. Raub's Mills was a stop on the S&L Railroad.

The last part of the sidewalk for 2020 project is completed.

The McClure Borough Council approved the purchase of "quick hookups" for every fire hydrant in the borough. This will help save time if they are ever needed (hopefully never), but if so this will help with ever valuable second. The hydrants have also gotten a nice new coat of paint. Thanks to the borough employees for the great work.

Alert - Black Fly Suppression An aerial black fly suppression operation has been scheduled for May 27th and May 28th on the main stem of the Susquehanna River. This operation will include flights in Cumberland, Dauphin, Juniata, Mifflin, Lancaster, Perry, Northumberland, Snyder and York Counties. The helicopter will be a Bell 205 with the tail number N638HA and is painted red with yellow striping. Helicopter Applicators Inc. wi...ll be dispersing Vectobac SC, which is a Bti product manufactured by Valent Biosciences. Bti is short for Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis, which is a bacterial larvicide, not a chemical, and is the only product used in Pennsylvania's waterways for black fly suppression. Vectobac SC is a thick brown liquid resembling chocolate milk. The helicopter will fly low near tree top level and release the Vectobac SC at various predetermined positions on each stream. See more

With the news of Snyder County moving into the green phase of the state's reopening plan, The Veteran's Memorial Pool will start welcoming patrons on Saturday, ...June 6th. There are still a few last minute preparations being made. Please note our board and staff will be taking every logical precaution to provide a clean and safe outlet for summer recreation including; regular cleaning of the water slide, diving board, pool entry grab bars, restrooms, showers, serving counters, and picnic tables. It is still a recommendation that patrons wear a mask or face covering when NOT in the pool and social distancing can not be observed. Our guests will receive daily reminders of good hygiene and ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during daily announcements. We understand that these measures may seem burdensome and repetitive, however to keep our facility open and operating these are things we all must do. This is certainly uncharted water (no pun intended) for all of us.
